need some correction here: - f1+4 is indeed not guaranteed deathfist anymore, but also not guaranteed db2 too, because opponent can hold back to tech - the one that have increased range is ff3,4,F4 the mid one, not the high one according to patch notes. (idk if the notes is true, because ff3,4,f4 is useless already, at least the high one has some screw utility)

I think Season 4 Paul is about in the same place in terms of character strength. I had these buff/nerf ideas for Paul that I think could make him a more interesting character. I’d be interested in your thoughts. N=Nerf, B=Buff B+3 -Natural Launch properties removed, N -damage decreased to 12, N -+3 on block, +8 hit, CH KND with guaranteed DB+2 or D+2 follow-up, B UB+2 Improve whiff recovery and speed of attack to i18, B QCF+1 Improve whiff recovery and speed of attack to i14, B -slightly decrease range of attack to same range as DF+2 QCF+2 -decrease damage by 5 on both types of hits, N QCF+3+4 -decreased pushback on hit to give a full combo, B FF+4 -Natural Launch properties removed, N -(-9 block, spin animation +14, CH KND with guaranteed DB+2 or D+2 follow-up)B DF+2 -Natural Launch properties removed, N -changed to -9 block, +2 hit, launch on CH), N -damage buff to 15 on hit, 18 on CH, B DB+2 -increased whiff recovery and speed of attack to i18: B -9 block, spin animation +14, CH launch DF+4 -increased whiff recovery and speed of attack to i16: B -CH crumple stuns, B -damage decreased to 20 on normal hit,N UF+2 -decreased damage to 20, N -increase whiff recovery and frames to i20, B -decreased frame advantage to +3 block with spin animation on hit +14, B -CH KND with guaranteed follow up to DB+2 or D+2, B 1, 2 -New animation to showcase increased aggression and enlarged hit box, B 1, 2, 3 string -frames changed to from -14 on hit to -9 on block, -4 on hit, B New Move F2 (elbow- non parryable) New mid follow up in 3, 2 string. New F2 mid follow up move comes out with same speed and similar animation to enforce a mixup. F2 can also be added to make a natural combos from B3, F3 and 1, 2, F3, and 1, 2, 3, F3. Man, I'm kinda disappointed at some o' them nerfs. I remember I'd do 84 damage wit "half moon back + 4 (must counter), half moon fwd + 1, 3>2>back +4, fwd>fwd+4, 3 (while rising)>2."

He is one of the most popular and played/beloved characters but has NEVER been top tier in any tekken iteration aside from tekken 3 (where most of the players come from lol) and namco still wants to take the few tools that makes him fun away until he is just the ryu of street fighter 5.

QCB 1+2 is QoL change. It was introduced as wall-ender to gain Oki instead of a damage at Season 3 but it was unreliable. After some brief testing with S4, it's better at the moment. Edit: I could be wrong since I didn't double-check but apparently Paul player can't be balcony-breaked and followed-up if he fails to land F, F, 1+2 throw at the wall. He just briefly wall-splats.

SS1 used to be KND and a CH launcher. The change to qcb1+2 seems to make 3,2~b1+2 a more consistent flipover wall combo. The opponent reaction for f1+4 is the same as qcb2, meaning that if the opponent doesn't hold back, a ff4 or dash db2 is guaranteed. The change to 2,3 is kind of useless: It's high-high, doesn't jail, and it only NCc. There's no reason not to duck after 2, because the other option is 2,d3, which is a -12 low.

No one denies the nerf, but you cannot deny some of the moves are buffed that are safer and has more pressure, Paul is Paul he's crazy strong with a couple of moves in every Tekken game damage wise, it will depend on how you play him and make uses of the buffs he has. Also new move + Rage Drive 71 damage

Actually only in counter hit it screws opponent, in normal hit your opponent just knock out far no guarantee whatsoever..This was a buff but not really good because its slow and its a high

@@woofzen8311 both normal and counter hit is a knockdown now but i dont really care too much since it is so slow and a high so you wouldn't use that move too often anyways. i just hoped that they would give him a good mid poke other than a 14f D1 which is slow for a poke.

Big nerfs imo . That shoulder was crazy now the risk/reward doesn’t make sense for him . Qcb4 has been his key move for so long and it also received a 20% nerf alongside the rage art damage and overall s4 damage nerfs and bar buffs hurt paul but he’s still a solid top mid character .

@@kalilmaita231 The win ratio of Jin online is one of the worst though whereas Paul has the best win ratio with Leroy. Does not make sense for the devs to nerf him. At the highest level, Paul is not used as much because he is not as safe as other chars but Jin is not particularly successful either. Jin demands higher execution, if you cannot combo 100% of the time after CH F4, wavedash very fast, reliably use eletrics from both sides and use optimized combos depending your distance with the wall, you cannot have a strong Jin and that is an execution barrier for many, so if you nerf him further the gap between him and Devil Jin will be huge.

Overall the damage nerf made him A tier honestly. Like so many of his combos are just now barely breaking 60 damage. Like he still has good launchers but other than that is it for paul. His new move seems like a joke. Like I would love to call him good in terms of strength but when other characters can do his damage but with less effort then he has really gone down hill. Still will play him but just not a great character anymore

Not so much fun to play with Paul anymore. Too much nerfed since season 1 . Everything is punishable almost. D1, 2 is unsafe deathfist is unsafe qcb4 is unsafe with some characters used to be safe. The only chance Paul had to win was rage cancel it's nerfed.

@@mysticnamja QCF1 is duckable, df2 does not launch on crouching opponents. His safe mids were UFB 2 and qcfb 2. He is just not a fast character in general and pressure escapes are now highly punishable.

Come on, I play Paul as main and can rip apart his glaring flaws until the suncomes up but the basic movelists don't deal damage and launchers that are safe don't do jack for damage! DF2 is NOT launch while opponent is ducking so wipe that clean plus if it does hit, the damage of df2 combo is like 54 -60 at best (far lower than any other characters "safe" launch. His other options, qcf2/1+2 are both punishable as is his hop quick. His qcf3 on block or demo man on block is launch punishable so again high risk for juggle possible reward. His fn deathfist is punishable on block as well! How is he S tier again now that his rage art is now less, f1+4 deals less damage and includes a punish and his remaining moveset simply sucks and are super long startups?

I dont get why people complain about pauls damage. he is EXTREMELY slow. easily punishable and blockable. when u have characters like law , king hwoarang who literally are safe in every way
