Is it confirmed that Kazuya died in the story mode? Because I saw Jun walk towards his fallen body in the ending, so JUST INCASE Jun and Kazuya are alive then it might happen in tekken 9, possibly.

With the gravity of the main story, the culmination of 30 years of lore and sorting through which endings from eight mainline games are canon, paired with Tekken's history of comical and light-hearted endings, I find most of these endings to be very true to the spirit of Tekken. I do think the endings for some characters could be a little more "clearly canon" but it is nice to see the TTT2 atmosphere brought to the more heavy story characters, like Jin and Steve. I personally miss the drama of King, Marduk, and Armor King, but overall this has been an exemplary game with fun endings. EDIT: I do miss what Lei Wulong used to bring to the story.

I wonder how crazy the endings for the DLC fighters will be. You have to wonder if an ending that is mostly true means a fighter has reached the end of their arc and another fighter has to take up the slot at least that way the roster stays fresh.
