Had a Tekken Ball side tournament going at the Launch Tourney over at my locals. It was arguably even more hype than the main tournament

They've already had a Tekken Ball tournament with pro tekken players in tekken 8, search for it on KZfaq, it's hilarious. It was done just as a promotion for the game, but I hope they continue doing them as a fun side category, so it can develop its own meta, cos that'd be fun as hell lol

And most of these things were there from the first game... Don't forget a wrestler who is secretly sponsoring orphanages and visits them in kayfabe, as in, wearing a jaguar mask and only roaring at kids! XD

Tekken 3 was always my favourite back in the day cos of all the extra modes like tekken ball mode and the beat em up mode and so on. Tekken 8 is the first one I've played since then and I'm SOOO glad I bought it cos it's fucking amazing. They brought back ball mode, the fighting is just fun as hell, it looks fucking great, and it's the most polished new game in years and years. Like nearly every game has to have patches to fix problems these days. But tekken 8 is just actually a complete and fully functioning game right out of the box, which is sad that that is actually an achievement these days as all games should be that, but nevertheless it's still incredibly impressive. I forgot how fun tekken could be. It was always a game where even if you don't know shit about it you could do really impressive awesome looking things, like whatever you press, cool shit will occur. And so (at least at first) you can just worry more about timing and punishing after blocking attacks, instead of immediately having to spend 100 hours learning combos in practice mode before you can start playing it. It still has all those combos and moves you can learn down the line, but you can just immediately get started and just have tons of fun and do awesome shit. And I'm not even talking about the newbie mode (where you press L1 and it just lets you do complex combos just by pressing triangle 3 times or whatever). Even with the normal controls, it's just so easy to do cool stuff. I haven't had this much fun with a fighting game in years. It's also got the most single player content I've seen in a fighting game in a long long time. Like, even if you never once play online, there's hundreds of hours of content here. Just like back in the 90s, when if you bought a fighting game, it didn't have to become your whole life just to enjoy it, having to learn thousands of different things. People just used to buy fighting games to play them like normal games, because fighting game tournaments didn't exist. You just played them to have fun. Tekken 8 is a return to that and I'm so here for it. It has all the deep complex meta too, for those who enjoy that. But yeah it's just also the best casual fun fighting game in such a long time.

If a line of emperors, no matter how cursed, can produce such a colorful culture, I don't care anyone else says. I'm voting for them (i.e. if they every go democratic)

To be honest, I feel like Heihachi and Kazuya throwing each other off of cliffs/volcanos feels like it was done with the tongue firmly in cheek.
