What luck finding this video that I had not seen when you posted it. I have been looking for a bargain in a Tek analog scope to compliment my digital scope, and today, won one on eBay at a pretty good price. And as it turns out, it is a model 2445A. I'm not sure how close it is to the 2245A. It is being sold as working properly, so I'm hoping. But if I have problems, at least I know an expert whose brain I can pick. Great video. Looking forward to Part 2.

Gday Ray, keen for part two of this one. I have a 2245A myself that undertook similar repairs when I received it. Cheers!

Yeah, that thing has scarred me for life! I do intend to get back to it, but there is significant heat damage on part of the board, and many of the boards in this scope are multilayer, and I fear that there may be multiple issues there. But one day I'll man up and get back to it. Signed, the other RG 😁

I have the 2246 which appears to have more menus and measurements. Otherwise almost identical. Never worked on it so its good to see inside. Go deep!

I just got a 2247A from eBay for pretty darn cheap, Identical power supply to this 2245A. Everything on it works really well and whoever owned it took really good care of it but I cannot see any parts that have been swapped out, everything looks original so I'm definitely going to change out the caps. I have most of them, but I don't think I have the 270uF 450v though. Most of the parts are dated to 1990 so I'd say it's time. Also the two 1500pF Rifa caps are gone.

Looking at that looks almost identical to a 2246, the voltages for sure are and the whole calibration setup.

Is there part 2 ? I also have an oscilloscope which shows readings on the wrong areas of the screen. It's panasonic and doesn't have schematics. It's also missing a beam.

I own a working 2246A, the one problem is thet I don't see the 130VAC at the test point. It's a good scope, I hope you fixed that problem eventually.

Francesco, we're way past eventually already. 😁 But if I can find a power supply board for a decent price I'll do that. The board in it is heat damaged, and these are fragile multilayer boards, so that may be what's at play here.

Hello Ray,Needing some help with a (2246)...looking at the screen it won't stop (sweeping) or (flashing) in my eyes. This is my first scope bought it from a friend here in Florida. It seems to be working I'm still trying to understand the manual 🙃. Please help!!!

Hello, good morning sir, I have this same equipment and I ask you: is it normal for the redout info to flash with a more or less slow horizontal sweep? From already thank you very much.
@raygianelli3612 Жыл бұрын
Hi Alfredo! My main scope is a 2445A, and the readout doesn't flicker with sweep speed. The 2245A is still waiting for me to get back to it. At this point I'm looking for a power supply board, as the one in it has one area where it's gotten very hot, and I'd just like to find a suitable replacement.

Could not find the channel you spoke about, has he changed his name or deleted his channel?

It's a web page, not a channel. Do a search for The Emperor of Test Equipment.

I know this is an old video, but i swear that trace is crooked. You can really tell at 9:00 the right most peak is visibly higher than the left most peak. Do these old analog scopes have a setting for that?
@raygianelli36123 күн бұрын
there is a trace rotation adjustment on the front of most cathode ray oscilloscopes. It's usually recessed and adjusted with a small screwdriver.
@KaylansDrone3 күн бұрын
@@raygianelli3612 I figured it to be something along those lines. I see these older scopes being used by the best of the best. They really must be worth saving.

@@KaylansDrone Like any tool, they have their pros and cons. The new digital storage scopes have an amazing array of measurement capabilities, and they shine at single shot/low rep rate signals. But the old scopes are better at displaying Lissajous patterns and other X/Y signals. And I prefer them for observing waveform fidelity. Oh, and these days they're cheap!

Hey Steve Tate, maybe you can help me also any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated it's been so long since I've actually looked at the scope in person I used to work in a shop in Pennsylvania and I was learning how to use an analog scope similar my A-Tech at that particular time his name was Chris sure do miss you Chris.
