Today is a bank holiday in the UK, so the Ukraine: The Latest team have produced a special Q&A episode answering questions from Telegraph subscribers. Thank you to all our listeners for getting in touch with your questions. Do let us know what you make of our responses.
Correction: The date is of course the 6th May, not the 2nd May as David says in the introduction.

Hellooo! The Russian Foreign Ministry said to the British Ambassador that if British missiles are launched against Russian territory, the Russians will consider Britain directly involved in the war in Ukraine and the Russians reserve the right to retaliate against British military installations and bases in Britain itself and go after the British military elsewhere in the world. it's an ultimatum.

His Majesty's Naval Base, Portsmouth (HMNB Portsmouth) is one of three operating bases in the United Kingdom for the Royal Navy (the others being HMNB Clyde and HMNB Devonport). Portsmouth Naval Base is part of the city of Portsmouth; it is located on the eastern shore of Portsmouth Harbour, north of the Solent and the Isle of Wight. For centuries it was officially known as HM Dockyard, Portsmouth: as a Royal Dockyard, Portsmouth functioned primarily as a state-owned facility for building, repairing and maintaining warships; for a time it was the largest industrial site in the world.[2]

Hi to david and the team, one question I really need to get of my back, and I listen all the time and it's never comes up. So russia is buying its weapons from Iran, north Korea and China, so it's OK to use there weapons in Ukraine, ok the west moans, sanctions kick in here and there, but as soon as Cameron comes and says its ok to use British weapons in Russia or Ukraine, christ all mighty, bloody Russia starts getting it's nuclear weapons ready etc surely all this is no different from them using weapons from china and Iran???what the bloody difference. Many thanks Oliver.

If people complained to Google about the advert, would Google act to shut down this channel. Anyway, looking forward to listening to the podcast content.

10:30 I was also very interested in the question of the extent of the Ukrainian resistance efforts taking place in Russian occupied territories and one of the previous episodes offered some very interesting slivers. The Russians just completed a critical overland rail line to Crimea. I can imagine that there will be some harrowing accounts after the war or an armistice that bring forth further details of what activities are happening behind the front lines, particularly those to raid and sabotage Russian supply lines.

One question I have not heard asked or addressed - Is there not a compelling incentive for the West to back the Ukraine to a decisive victory, to recover, thrive, and ultimately pay it's Western debt back. If Ukraine loses, that debt will have to be written off....or would this be viewed like a gambler trying to recover his losses with more gambling? 🤔

❤❤❤ i believe everything is connected, I don’t know what this concept of connectedness means, so I try to maintain a big picture approach. This means, for me the evolution is positive change, positive changes can’t be measured objectively by those woh are part of the change, unless they hve an unmoving point of reference which guides their lives beginning beforehand and continues throughout their life. This war, is set within a greater context and that greater context is set within another dimension which extends towards the heavens and the earth. This is difficult for people, like yourself who are , not to be insulting, but part. Of their destiny to be on mountainous viewing other mountains. It’s easy for such mountains viewing, living people to think that the valley is intolerably small compared to their experience in the mountains, and upon further reflection their families and everyday connections are a kind of normality, their assumption that they’re closer to the stars than the valley people…so they’re manipulated by their environment just as much, or I would argue, more so a victim, of their knowledge and environment than the valley peoples. They’re divided, in. Tragic state S the valley people are divided by a nearby mountain range or River. The proces of change are affecting all these environments, even me. However, there’s an important difference in how we conceptually perceive the mental and social environment. Mountain communities are seen as superior to the other groups, and accorded greater deference and given greater voice. The war in Ukraine isn’t being held into an all embracing concept with climate change and what is happening in other places like. Haiti, for example. Until the mountains people can make their mental models incorporate all this…we’re all just pushing deck chairs on a wallowing boat boat in a storm. We’ve all all contributed to.

Western embassies have indeed installed the best western supplied air-defense systems around Kiev already and Russia destroyed them, because Russia can. US and UK helped shoot down missiles on drones on their way to occupied Palestine (i.e Israel) because the platforms were not in fear of being shot-down, over Ukraine this would be a distinct (and almost certain) possibility.

If Ukraine uses British weapons to strike Russia, Moscow will strike London The Russian Foreign Ministry warned the British Ambassador about Moscow's imminent response to attacks on the Russian territory, the department said in a statement. UK's Ambassador Nigel Casey was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on May 6. French Ambassador to Russia Pierre Levy was summoned to the department the same day. The Russian Foreign Ministry clarified that Casey was summoned following the recent statements from British Foreign Secretary David Cameron. The latter claimed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had the right to use British weapons to strike Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed a decisive protest in connection with Cameron's remarks. The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out the contradiction between Cameron's current and previous remarks when he said that longer-range missiles "under no circumstances" would be used to strike the Russian territory. Such rhetoric indicates that London is de facto becoming a party to the conflict, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. The Foreign Ministry also listed potential retaliatory measures that would follow should Ukraine use British weapons to strike Russia. Casey was warned that any British military facilities and equipment both on the territory of Ukraine and beyond could become targets in response to Ukraine's attacks on Russia with the use of British weapons. The Russian Foreign Ministry also said that Casey must refute Cameron's "belligerent provocative statements.” "We urged the ambassador to think about inevitable catastrophic consequences of such hostile steps from London,” the Russian ministry said. In a conversation with Reuters, David Cameron said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine could legitimately use British weapons to strike Russia. The agency later withdrew the article with Cameron's statement, but then published it again, leaving the quote about Kyiv's right to use British weapons to strike Russian territory unchanged. Pravda

@@someboy89 So what? This is an act of war, and Russia will respond to it symmetrically. Well, the war will start, it will be on Cameron's conscience. Oh, sorry, "Lord" Cameron.
