The real answer as to why Jamaica isn’t on Trinibad music is because they don’t want or respect any other non Jamaican doing dancehall & in my opinion Trinibad picked up where vybz kartel & mavado left off in the good heights of dancehall in those years when they were the 2 main man … every other country gravitated towards Trinibad except Jamaica & we saw the patriotism against Byron Messia & even how they treat Sean Paul

In 2012/13 Raevon started to use dancehall beats and created his own music to diss muslim city and then Toppy Boss responded and then soon in 2017 Swanny and Rebel came out and the term Trinibad was born

Am from Trinidad and i will like 2 be a artist as well and growping up i love listening 2 some of the greats like kartel,rhyno,alklaine,popcaan etc and this made me love dancehall and the island that the music was coming from and its a little sad to see as a fan and supporter of dancehall music the jamaicans dont really support our little trinibad and reading some of the comments on this video like "Trinidadians 2 needy"and "And the music dont song good"etc Support d thing no other island could take dancehall from allyur thats urs but talking down on us and acting all high and mighty cuz of the amount of aritst buss from Jamaica..We ah all family we love and support jamaica and we hope u guys feel the same

reason why Trinibad hasn’t caught up in Jamaica is due to Jamaicans thinking that they own dancehall and no other country can produce or sing the genre.. if it was so why then promote it to the world? Similar to soca it’s moved on from Trinidad. Rap moved on from the Us etc.. other countries can make their own sub genre of any genre if Jamaicans realize it’s a good thing for dancehall they’ll forward it but pride got them narrow minded .. that’s my 2 cents not all of them think this way but a lot do. I’ve seen enough comments about swanny, byron and other dancehall artists through out the Caribbean for me to see

Respect to Punz, but he represents a minority in T&T. His views are from a perspective of someone living that type of lifestyle. Normal citizens in Trinidad are not under siege while no one can deny crime is a problem that inadvertently affects everyone. We live normal lives for the most part. Trinibad and Zess music (which is like a soca/dancehall fusion) think Yung Bredda, are more popular with the underprivileged youth. Soca is still king and alive and well. Trinibad is a movement just like others before it we had General Grant back in d day and a few other dancehall artistes making waves out of Trinidad.

It always surprises me how surprised Jamaicans are that Dancehall and Reggae are big in Trinidad and the rest of the Caribbean, that's like an American being surprised that we like Tupac and Biggie or other people sing rap lol. Trinidad like 99% of the Caribbean is very integrated with Caribbean culture because we are all Caribbean people. Reggae and Dancehall might have been birthed in Jamaica but it is Caribbean music, just like Soca which is played and sung everywhere else in the Caribbean. It is foolish and Myopic as a people to try and gatekeep a genre especially when in the Caribbean our population sizes are already small. Caribbean music is Caribbean music no matter where it comes from, in fact, I'll go and say Dancehall and Reggae is probably more celebrated and respected in other Caribbean countries outside of Jamaica👀. One Caribbean one people, unity is strength!
