Think of the entirety of school as being like a test. A test to see whether people can cut it in the real world workplace. You go to a location for X amount of hours for X schedule as a child, and then you do it as an adult later. If you can stick with the school program your entire early life, it's looks better on a resume than.....if you hadn't. It means you're willing to stick with something and see it to the end, even when it seems horribly tedious. Honestly though, most of the shit you learn in school has no practical use later in life. It's merely the fact that you are THERE, sticking it out through it all that means something. Having a diploma or high grades or whatever doesn't really impress many employees by showing that you have vast knowledge in History or perfect grammar, or advanced Algebra skills or whatever......no, it's the fact that you worked your ass off to get the highest marks in something that truly impresses employers. You show that you are willing to go above and beyond to do the best job possible, and report cards/diplomas are proof of that dedication in documented form for all of your future employers to see. So yea......the entirety of school....is just one big fat test/application for future jobs

***** I'm sorry to disappoint you but.....I have seen living proof of those STEM subjects being totally worthless. For example, several members of my family went to school, got AMAZING grades in everything, then went to college, graduated with honors.....and are now working either double shifts as waitresses just to survive, or worse. The reason? They didn't DO anything with it! They didn't use that diploma to get into the field they wanted, they didn't actively work towards getting into a workplace; they just completed all of their schooling and college and when they finished, they expected an awesome job with a fat paycheck to just be handed to them! So now, they've got all this 'awesome' knowledge in their mind from their decades of schooling that is absolutely worthless to them because they lacked to drive to pursue a job like they had when they were younger, actively pursuing those grades. It's the DRIVE that matters, not necessarily the knowledge you get from STEM classes. Even some of my smartest professors tell me all the time "Most of the stuff you learn in this class, you'll NEVER use or see again....but I still expect you to learn it." And I did, and I mastered it, and I got great grades in that class. And ya know what? He was right, I never needed that crap for anything ever again except that final exam XD The really tragic part though, is when someone works their ass of in school to get an awesome job......and then gets out of school and immediately begins slacking which makes all the work they did worthless :/ They can be the smartest waitress in the room with the fanciest diploma but.....they're still making the same amount of money as the next waitress with no knowledge gained from college because the two of them have about the same drive and motivation. Differing levels of years spent in college and school knowledge + same amount of drive and motivation = same paycheck at the end of the week sadly.
