Tell my father that his son didn’t run or surrender. That I bore his name with pride as I tried to remember you are judged by what you do while passing through. As I rest ‘neath fields of green, let him lean on my shoulder Tell him how I spent my youth so the truth could grow older Tell my father when you can, I was a man. Tell him we will meet again where the angels learn to fly. Tell him we will meet as men, for with honor did I die. Tell him how I wore the blue, proud and true, through the fire. Tell my father so he’ll know, I love him so. Tell him we will meet again where the angels learn to fly. Tell him we will meet as men, for with honor did I die. Tell him how I wore the blue, proud and true, the way he taught me. Tell my father not to cry, then say goodbye.

I think this touches us so much because of all of the wars, of all of our relatives gone. After 9/11, all of our soldiers were volunteers. Some are in Congress, often having sustained grievous wounds. The world is now very close to nuclear war. “ Tell My Father “ shows all of the pain, past, present, and future.

Am writing a screenplay about US GRANT. He would have wept had he heard this! 340,000 Union soldiers died. ( They paid our reparations.) Every fourth house, cabin, farm or apartment lost a man. We were a small country then. I wish you would make an album. Thank you so much. God bless.

This is absolutely the best rendition of this sacred song. I hope the current students are as sublime as this. I keep coming back to this for several years now. This should be sung by every chorus in every HS and college.

I have been looking all over to find a version of this song being performed by a good choir! Its a shame this doesn't have more views as I feel that it's probably the best version on KZfaq. Great stuff!

No lie, the first time I was singing this for practice I cried. A lot. It was probably the most I've ever cried and for the longest time. This song has so much meaning to me partially because I can imagine myself singing this song for my father word for word with complete honesty. It is a lovely song.

Know you did well. I didn’t realize this song was so well sung out there.we have been going to school band concerts the last 6 years. Which there was an equivalent bad song like this I cry when the bands okay certain songs. And this should be sung at all NFL games right before the National Anthem. Maybe those clods would get the message!

Simple mais magnifique interprétation. Ni emphase ni pathos, le chant vient du coeur. Bravo pour la flûte et le piano ! Point n'est besoin d'orchestration écrasante pour faire passer émotion et talent. Simple but beautiful interpretation. Neither emphasis nor pathos, the song comes from the heart. Bravo for the flute and the piano! no need for overwhelming orchestration to convey emotion and talent.
