I used BBS’s back in the late 80s through to the early to mid 90’s. I used to have my trusty US-Robotics 14.4 HST modem and around 1993 I upgraded to a US-Robotics 16.8HST dual standard. On my 386 and later 486dx66 with an isa 16550 hi speed serial card.

The old uart8250 that came on most pc motherboard at the time were not up to the job when constant above 9600.

Also set up on Pi1 with RISC O/S. Super quick on there! The tips on VNC server were really useful as I do like to use most Pi's remotely from my PC! Thank you :)

Cool, connecting to 8bit hardware is the next step i do what to do at some point. Just needed to make this when I did and how I did because Wi-Fi Sheep featured on the service at that time.

@@WiFiSheep Yeh it's a bit of a faff to figure out but once you do it's a joy. I used ESP8266 so had to learn how to flash it and configure the "modem" prior to connecting to real hardware (C64 + RS232 via user port). On the Beeb though I bought a "simple wifi modem" and this is pre done (although of course you still need to set up your router manually). Im keen though to setup a Pi and see it that way as well so will follow your lead.

I am adding the Internet and a network for BBSing for THEC64 on PCUAE, it reminds of Teletext... :) I remember seeing Prestel on the BBC Micro in Libraries in the 80s when I was a kid... :)

@@WiFiSheep yes it will be, I have THEC64 Mini and THEVIC20 so I test PCUAE on the mini too so PCUAE works on all the machines, it just might be a bit slower on it cause it has a duel core not a quad core like on THEC64 has so its a faster machine but PCUAE Network Mode(thats what I called it) works fine on THEC64 Mini too, the network will not work with the carousel or Classic Mode, it dose not have the RS232 enabled so you have to use VICE Mode, VICE mode is like Classic Mode, you can boot into it like you do with Classic Mode, so can boot up C64 Mode or even C128 Mode... :) its has 7 Commodore Machines you can switch between.

No as yet, but I was looking at your website last night. Good to hear it works on the Mini, as I cannibalised mine into a repack kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ib1jdMl83t_Gg5s.html it would make a good candidate for this kind of experimentation.

I tried the address for 'telstar' but the link is broken and the page doesn't load. Did you make this video last year? I'd swear the GlassTTY webpage isn't the same now, as of 3/3/2022.

oh...... thats a shame :-/ Yeah it was shot back in October 21 when Wi-Fi Sheep got a mention on the service, only just now got around to editing and uploading the video. Looks still to be working via 3rd party software clients, hopefully the PAD will be back up at some point.

On this one yes, on the basis the intro / sponsor / outro were shot at the same time as the previous video. Still getting use to using autocue systems

@@WiFiSheep Sorry, it's something i notice even without trying lol When i look at a face, my brain concentrates on eyes for some reason and with them darting about it freaks my brain out lol You honestly don't need a teleprompter, you do great without one. You do you of course lol

Its useful for the Sponsor scripts as they tell me what to say etc.... Stuff like RISC OS Direct is all scripted so again helps alot. And also Im hoping to have a few guest presenters in the near future they will probably want to read scripted content. However after 5+ years of more or less making it up in front of camera, I intend to run in a less scripted informal manor. I find if you know your subject and your excited about it a natural dialogue just flows.... but we're all still leaning LOL
