Dapat sa seagames yung pinapadala ay ang mga best players ng NCAA at UAAP in every position. Para maka buo ng mga rising star team na makakatulong na ma improve kanilang experience sa paglalaro ng basketball. Wag na mga pro. Kasi nakakahiya pag natatalo.

Its obvious Gilas team defense is tentative, this only proves that lack of preparation and good system wont work in international competition, PBA style of coaching and system does not work in international level, plus I dont believe that Reyes has the ability to stir Gilas to higher level. Tab Baldwin or similar system could be a better fit, defense and ball movement is key which is not evident in Gilas game. SBP and PBA are not really helping levelling up basketball program in the country.

I can't even blame Gilas Pilipinas coaches and players for taking it personally, let us just consider Tim Cone even coach Tim did not like it, it is one of the unwritten rules in basketball, players and coaches knows it, it is like not shooting the ball in dying seconds at the end of the game if you are up in points. It is a respect for the game and the opponents. It is Ethics!

I dont approve of that. The game isnt over til its over. It is ethical to still play defense and stop them from scoring even if youre down by 9 otherwise you just accepted defeat. This is not the NBA. The teams represent their country and their pride. There is still chance Gilas. Move on beating the next team

It's a very costly loss. Basketball has caused the failure of grassroots movement of our youth in other sports especially athletics. The most athletic youngsters were recruited by basketball weakening other sports. We have placed all our eggs in only one basket and now that basket is deteriorating. Our country was once a power in the region in athletics. In 1983 SEA Games, 32 medals including 11 golds were won by the Philippines. Today, only 4 gold medals are won in Cambodia. So sad.

Gilas or PH team wont fully develop because the competition in the PBA is not high due to the fact that we dont allow foreign players with the exception to some conferences where the league allows one import per team. Imagine if the NBA or Euroleauge only allow players within their nationality or continent.

Yes, that's right, Cambodian players are only allowed to become Cambodian nationals. They love Cambodia. Most of the players are from Korea, USA, etc. It's amazing

Aren't we defeating the very purpose on the spirit of fair game and competitiveness? I think it would be great if we showcase our homegrown talents. The Central Committee should set uniform rules on eligibility of national players. If not properly addressed, SEA Games, sooner or later, will just be aptly called South East American Games.

Too many issues were evident from the get go of this SEAG hosting; court is not even an appropriate venue for such international sports event, score board needs fixing, referees questionable calls, and etc. Gilas could’ve just ditched this and focus on FIBA.

Big factor was the missing key players like Scottie, Japeth especially Jamie Malonzo who for sure would boost his team with his highlight dunks. They lost confidence from the 1st quarter.

We cannot help but to love basketball as Filipinos.. but unfortunately we are funding and competing in a sport where height and leaping ability is an advantage and a must.. If we competed in sports where height is not an issue like golf, soccer, baseball, etc.. we would have a better chance in winning championships.. unfortunately we chose to love basketball as Filipinos.. therefore we should accept disappointing outcomes time and time again..😟

To begin with, the Philippines started the practice of naturalizing players in the 1980s. Second, this loss will live in infamy or public disgrace since this Gilas squad, which is already an organized basketball club equipped with the top PBA players, was trounced and humiliated by a team created perhaps a week before the game started. Gilas, in my opinion, should atone for this heinous crime.

@@herbert1209 only difference is semantics. Our idea of jus sanguinis is outdated. Citizenship is mainly birth and assimilation to the territory one represents if anything. That's why Giannis who was born and raised in Greece, trained in Greece is arguably more Greek than Clarkson is Filipino, because Clarkson was born and raised and trained in the US.
