One of the easiest ways to duplicate parts is by using templates. Learn how to make templates and which router bit should you use when cutting around a template. You'll also learn how to set up your router or router table to make cuts around templates.

Nice video, what brand of carpet tape did you use? I found Shurtape brand that says it's permanent, not good!

Also,what I saw from a Luthier here on KZfaq. Use masking tape (less sticky residue) on both the template and the wood, put superglue onto the masking tape and that way you have a solid fixed template, without any residue.

+Dean Grove interesting idea, I might try that, but there's masking tape and then there's masking tape. I've had varying results with the stuff in decorating projects

Just an idea, but if you do have to go against the grain, then I would add thin ca glue to that area of the work piece. I have to try this.

Also, make sure you use a rubber bottom hold down that has a handle on top to push small pieces through the bit. This prevents a "grab" from throwing the piece across the room.

Didn't explain the grooved inside corner where the trim bit won't fit.

Trace the inside corner with a sharpe pencil. Then, after removing the template use hand tools to finish. Usually a coping saw and sanding.

I dont f...... get this whole thing with grain direction.. I know what they're saying but I always have problem with figureout in what direction this grain really is.. any advices?

It's easy. Just use your finger nail to dig in to the wood. Then mark an arrow using a pencil. Hope this helps.

Here's what I got out of it - you want to route from a straight edge (going with the grain) to a non-straight edge (one going not with the grain).
