Thank you for all the information. Showing your acrylic templates prompted me to look deep into my patchwork box and low and behold I purchased a multi set of different templates years ago. I have them out now and will have a try at using them. xx

Such a great lesson for us beginners. I have a few of the rubber stamps I've bought here in France and they are a bit of a trick to get used to. You definitely need to gently dab the stamp pad onto the stamp rather than the stamp onto the stamp pad (if that makes sense!) They are made by dutch company Hobby Time and four hexagons ranging from 1/4 to 2 inches were 18.50 euros here. They are terrific for tiny hexies and you use a water based ink (I used Versa) and the ink washes off with a bit of soap and water. I used them to follow your last video and made a tiny version of your hexie placemat to have a go at paperless hexies - worked a treat! PS. I love that you visited Jenny and Susan at FOQ - such lovely stitchers.

Thank you, Rachel. I've seen the first collection of templates instore and wondered how good they were. I'm glad to have found out about the inaccuracy before buying. You have saved me a lot of frustration.😁. I hope you are getting some quality stitching time yourself ❤

I had that set for a good few years and never really used them and not very good for marking the cutting line like I said. I hope you get to try this technique out soon. Xx

The cut out your own plastic is so useful for a number of quilt techniques. Some is heat tolerate for mild ironing. So I keep that separate. Actually anymore I only buy the heat tolerant so I don't have to keep track of which kind i have in the house.

@stitchwithrachel drawing applique shapes. Pressing flow shapes in fabric to prep them for various applique methods. Guides for positioning embroidery designs. See various applique and embroidery instructions descriptions. Making freeform quilting templates as well as standard shapes for piecing. Many machine and hand quilting techniques. Almost any marking method can be done. Therefore, I I keep sheets of it and scrapes from cutting out parts of leftover pieces of plastic on hand all the time. New uses frequently turn up for this stuff. I've been quilting, sewing, and doing many types of handwork since age 14. I'm now 75, grins. I love learning other ways of doing things. Plus, seeing things others make. I've been a fan of Emma for a long time. I just found your channel. Slow stitching is putting a new twist on ideas for me. I'm fighting cancer and am mostly bed bound. I also do several types of yarn and thread work. I like exploring new ideas and sharing with other craft minded people.

👍 great information Rachel. I managed to purchase (a while back now) some Acrylic hexagon and square shapes that go up in sizes but fit into each other with an exact 1/4” seam on the outer edges… they work a treat with the rotary cutter. Very informative video. Thank you x

Hi Rachel, I purchased these templates a few years ago an use them all the time, they are great, I just find that the template does not give enough of the 1/4 inch seam allowance for the fabric, so I draw around them and use my scissors to cut the fabric. Thanks.

What is the name of the 1/4” triangular ruler? What is it called? I have been trying to search online and can’t find it. Thank you!

I only use quilt stamps anymore. They come in just about every design and size and shape. Literally you just stamp/cut, The edge as well as the perfect quarter inch seam allowance will be very visible. No more of what you’re doing. You should really check out the Quilt stamps. I wouldn’t lead you the wrong way.

I seen those quilt stamps and they do look amazing but sadly I can't find anyone who stocks them in the UK. I keep telling myself I'll do a bulk order from the states but budget doesn't allow at the moment

Couldn’t the first templates be used without the inside part? So use it to draw inside and outside? I feel there’s an obvious error I’m not seeing haha
@stitchwithrachel
@stitchwithrachel 9 ай бұрын
Hi 👋 the main disadvantage with the first templates is that the inside line is not easily marked. You have to draw the dots in the holes and then draw a line to connect them x
@moggtina
@moggtina 9 ай бұрын
@@stitchwithrachel If it was used without the inside part though? So just draw around the outside and inside as it is, not using the dot method. So the inside hexie wouldn’t be used, just the outside frame.
