One time he misplayed and complained about being unlucky and I brought up his misplay in chat and he said "Go back to r/competitiveHS, you dumper Legend trash" and promptly permabanned me. It made me so sad because I've been watching this guy daily since the old days : I'm talking OLD, old days, like the "guitar in the bedroom in Minnesota" days , the "holy shit, he just Kill Commanded his own Highmane for lethal in a tournament" days, the "come back from Dreamhack and tell Leah story" days. I vividly remember lots of classic memories with his stream. For example, I remember I had finals coming up the day he first did text-to-speech donations. I stayed up all night crying laughing watching the shitstorm unravel live. So to go through all that with him, thick and thin, and at the end of the day get permabanned because of a slightly dickish comment honestly hurt me more than many of my actual, real life breakups with women. In any case, I promptly subbed with my banned account, breaking my 5 year tradition of never ever giving a Twitch streamer any money regardless of how much free content I've taken from them, and then made a new Twitch account under a different e-mail, and then went into his chat and begged him to unban me and to take my $5 as an apology. He unbanned me and we're cool now. The funny thing was, he kinda got me. Right now I don't know what my rank is, only that I am top 2000 (because I get top ~500 Legend early in the season and then only do daily quests with meme decks for the rest of the season because frankly this game gets boring as fuck and what more do you have to prove at that point). Plus, I do sometimes peruse r/competitiveHS. So I am 'r/competitiveHS dumpster Legend trash'. If you're wondering what the play was and whether I was right or not : He was playing some Tempo Aluneth Mage list in WIld, and he had a fairly empty hand with a Ziliax on board against a Priest at high 20s health. Turn 5 comes, and I know he wants to play his Magnetic Wargear. I think to myself, : "he better not Magnetize the Ziliax, and instead play the Wargear by itself on the right." Because, sure, if you magnetize the Ziliax, you get a 8/7 with Lifesteal and Divine Shield, and you get an extra 5 damage that turn, but you absolutely get permafucked by SW Death. With no board and a hand running out of juice, a deck like that just cannot come back from a tempo loss that heavy against Priest unless you topdeck Aluneth within the next 3 turns. And it's not like you know the extra 5 damage will ever really matter that early on in the game, anyways. Dropping just the 5/5 on the right makes it much more awkward for him to Death; Priests generally don't want to waste their Deaths on 5/5s against Tempo decks that may have Dr. Boom or Antonidas or whatever. And, yeah, most Priests only run one copy of Death, but on Turn 5 they've usually drawn like, what, 10 cards? So it's a 1-in-3 that you're fucked on the spot, which, EV-wise, is a cost that's way too high for the alternative benefit of an extra 5 damage to face when you don't even know if that'll end up mattering. He ends up Magnetizing the Ziliax, and, as I predicted, gets fucked by Death. And as we all predicted, he bitches about it. Then he bans me and then loses. What pissed me off the most was how chat reacted after he flamed and banned me. Some brainless piece of shit had the goddamn gall to sarcastically type out "Oh, Reynad, why didn't you have the clairvoyance to know your opponent would have that singular card?!" Like, wow, thanks for the lowkey compliment, because apparently I had that fucking 'clairvoyance' to think about a basic fucking card that the opponent could have in his hand. What, are you fucking telling me that when you play Hearthstone, you don't play around cards that your opponent might have, and then when you get fucked by them, you whine that only someone CLAIRVOYANT could have the cognitive ability to guess what fucking cards your opponent might have in his hands? Like they all blamed me for being Captain Hindsight which pissed me the fuck off because I had no way of proving that I actually thought about that exact play and those consequences before Reynad even played his Wargear. But my rank is sufficient enough. Maybe that's why you're all Rank 15, you utter fucking morons. Also, BTW, to the guy who's like "That's precisely why Reynad is always salty - because he spends most of his time getting fucked by things outside of his control" - this statement makes absolutely no sense. It's mathematically impossible for someone who has played this game as much as Reynad has to be 'inherently unlucky'. It's like, basic probability. Look up the law of large numbers. Also about the “facts” the fact is that the game is god awful, it’s a full asset flip of Fallout 4, full of bugs, no push to talk in a multiplayer game at launch. Not to mention the completely pointless PvP aspect and the mind numbing PvE gameplay loop; with the brain dead A.I., buggy enemies, no human NPCs, story told through holotapes that get interrupted by: players screeching through mics, or in game events interrupting them, with no system to pause the holotape or whatever. Anyways doesn’t matter how much money it makes, how much you in your personal opinion like it, it’s objectively a terrible game.
