I know Moony acts cold to ENA, but some ppl speculate its bc ENA is pure, spuratic emotion and can't be aided through coddling or kind words (like when ppl beat themselves up still even after you say everything is ok?) I think for ENA, Moony ignores it and/or doges the upsetting topics ENA brings up (when sad) and it appears that is how ENA wants to be treated. I wonder if Moony's nonchalant nature against ENA's sudden outbursts are what makes them friends.

i dont rly get why some people think moonys wish was for ena to be happy all the time. she clearly is completely indifferent to ena's mood swings and is actually mean to her a lot of the time, why would she spend the one wish she had forcing ena to be happy when the outbursts dont bother her? I talk about this with a friend, about the little movements she makes, like that tic/thing with her fingers at the start or covering her face and how similar are to real things people do when they are nervous or about to have a meltdown, just a weird but interesting detail

One thing I’ll say is a lot of Ena’s animations takes inspiration from the Talking Heads- Once in a Lifetime music video. Of course the turrón dance but also you know white sad Ena’s freak out in auction day? That little hand motion is also from the vid. Also Ena’s jumps in AD, they reference the singer at the start moving in and out of frame. Honestly there’s too many to say them all out, even Ena’s hand placement with the wave and the blocky hand on her stomach. I’d recommend checking it out. Also also, while I thought Ena might’ve changed, it might be just Moony who will stay in that weird skinny form.

Sad ENA is a mood

I really feel like Ena's "true" self is the "sad side". The whole dual persinality thing comes from the fact that Ena is a very pessimistic and miserable person. She's clearly trying to be better, to have a positive outlook, to force a happy face, but the breakdowns are inescapable. She clearly doesn't deal well with stress, let alone crowded places. "Happy" lines seem too formal, too forced, even the voice is different, like Ena is just trying to force another identity onto herself. Her demonic form is her going so far it's hard for her body to be stable, let alone hard for her mind to match up with the other residents. That's why when she's "drunk" she accidentally breaks the fourth wall, reflecting the majority of the audience's thoughts. Her body is mostly blocky and polygonal, and the torso is presumably blue, as seen over her collar, her hair is supposed to be long. But it's like she used some tool to smooth out all her rough edges on her left side, like she cut her hair, like she is desperately trying to mold herself into someone she sees as better. But as seen in Temptation Stairway, her paranoid thoughts take over, forcing her into her breakdown form. Possibly her true form, but with the face repositioned to her hands, and greyed out. The voices constantly swapping maybe another side effect - Ena's lost sight of who she even is. And her slowly becoming yellow at the end must be her trying to repress her sorrow entirely, all as an attempt to just be happy. I'm assuming Dream BBQ will show us the results. The repression didn't work, and Ena broke down, now changing from a sad-happy combo to a hot-cold combo of sorts. Presumably a very aggressive, impulsive side that lashes out at people, and a calm, possibly apathetic side, that can help settle down a situation. Maybe it's all a huge metaphor for depression, how Ena is miserable, tries being happy, but ends up switching between self-deprecating hopelessness and hyperactive politeness, then between senseless anger and absolute numbness. Hopefully it turns out okay for her.

Ena seems to be constantly switching both voices and emotional states a lot this episode. I wonder if that has something to do that grey emotional disress.

I’m thoroughly convinced that ENA is coded with Borderline Personality Disorder. For one, her emotions are presented in extremes. Two, she’s really attached to Mooney and panics when she’s gone. Three, (back to the emotions part) there’s two distinct voices, which give off vibes like she’s splitting. And while her emotions are super strong and last a while, she seems disconnected from them right after she’s done feeling them. Idk though. I’m probably overthinking this.
