Like almost every other company like Google takes your information and sells it. It's not an occurrence where only Chinese apps do it. The only issue is that Temu has more of a risk of viruses and that they engage in criminal activity which they use forced labor and abuse trade loop holes.

Not so fun fact: Temu “allegedly” exploits its workers and uses sweatshops along with sales that are technically not winnable, all to keep prices low and people buying. Not to mention their products use really shotty parts and manufacturing. I do not support Temu and highly recommend people do the same. Although if you really want to buy from them to get your $10 Nintendo switch that’s your choice. Quick edit: they also apparently have spyware in their apps and website soooo.

Have bought over 180 items from there in few years, mostly for myself and my sister as its super cheap compared to Amazon in Baltics (just delivery is usually +30 euros for 15e item...). Only had few complains and those were because of the items themselves, as i expected more but didnt really use it. Otherwise temu is crazy good deal and people scared of their data being stolen are literally clowns, you have to accept your data being collected just to use youtube lmao, wtf are they talking about.

On android temu doesn't require any permission to run. Considering that you use PayPal or a similar service to pay for the products (which you should anyway when buying from China), the only information they have direct access to is the shipping address and name (which frankly are info that every online shop that I've ever bought from has). Also, given that they operate in the EU, they have to follow the same laws every other online shop does. I know this isn't much considering it's China, but the same goes for every Chinese online store, including aliexpress, banggood etc. Just take precautions when ordering and you'll be fine

The company that made temu also made another Chinese buy and sell app. But that app got taken down for stealing and selling the users personal information. Meaning that temu has access to that same malware and it is currently under inspection for that reason.
