I don't even look at Temu ads, because I have been watching how Chinese sellers operate on Amazon. I am not against any group of people or ethnicity, however, Amazon letting the Chinese sellers run over USA sellers is now taking its toll. Small businesses fuel the economy by providing spending power to the business owners and their employees. However, when a huge chunk of the US spending is going to overseas sellers, there is a ripple effect. United States small business can wither and die and so does a huge chunk of the spending with them. If this continues, Amazon, Temu, Shein and Walmart will all be in trouble as U.S. consumer spending is shrinking, but more sellers are competing for the same dwindling pie. Crazy!

Not that i condone communism, no, not all! but "capitalism" is overrated, flagrant, even a lie, because capitalism is one big greedy monopoly ran by hedge funders, and inside-traders, who infiltrate and conquer, who also, on the front end, seems to offer good opportunity, fair trade, and reasonable prices, -- until they get what they want, they take over, make all the money for themselves and leave it's vendors, and consumers high and dry, as they insidiously shut down businesses, as they are culprits in the divesting of neighborhood stores, shopping malls, restaurants, etc., leaving empty store fronts, empty communities, empty opportunities. I don't like the exploitation which is attached to "capitalism," when they monopolize [infiltrate, take over/conquer/BULLY -- thriving businesses' goods and services]. 🚫monopolies; no [shadow or secret] hedge-funding 🚫monopolized/hedge-funded Real Estate Investors & Developers buying up all the land/houses and farmland. 🚫capitalism 🚫corporation lobbyists 🚫secret inside-traders.

Let's be transparent: every company, employers' goal is cut costs. Every major company in the world has factories in Asia and Latin America, think they're not slaving their workers? Even in the US, most powerful ever nation, people aren't being slaves over wages and conditions? Nike h and m Walmart Amazon target apple.... why we love capitalism no?

Well said ! It's blatantly hypocritical how some people are quick to call out alleged slavery in places like China while turning a blind eye to the modern forms of slavery rampant in the US and EU. This isn't just about far-off factories; it's about the systemic exploitation happening under our noses, often with the tacit approval of governments and major corporations. It's a convenient smokescreen, diverting attention from domestic issues while demonizing foreign competition. The reality is, labor exploitation is a global issue, deeply embedded in the capitalist system we so proudly champion. We should be fighting against these injustices everywhere, not using them as a ploy in economic rivalries.

@@SexyUndisputed2All Communists are hilarious. It's socialist and communist countries that use slavery, not capitalist. Capitalism (aka a market economy) requires the free exchange of goods and services, that means work must be voluntary by definition. To compare low wages to slavery is offensive, and tells me that the word means nothing to you.

Temu offers competitive prices by establishing a direct link between consumers and cost-efficient producers, thereby eliminating middleman fees and allowing purchases at factory wholesale rates. This direct-to-consumer approach removes unnecessary markups, making products available at highly attractive prices. In addition, when tens of thousands of consumers aggregate their orders, they generate bulk shipments. This volume makes what would be high shipping costs for individual items much more economical. Consequently, the gross profit from these products covers the shipping costs, allowing the merchants on our platform to maintain a fair margin. Temu’s direct-from-factory model is distinct from traditional retail in that it minimizes the number of times goods are transferred, which translates into substantial cost savings. Dispatching goods directly from the source eliminates the need for multiple stages of transportation and warehousing, addressing what is often the most significant expense and inefficiency in conventional retail operations. With minimal inventory waste, the pricing is still adequate to cover the costs of the product, transportation, and sales, while still providing sellers with a healthy profit margin for further development of their business.

Hum... I'm not sure this reasonning is completely correct. If the US government starts to tax goods imported in the case you are talking about, Chinese companies are not located in the US so the one who's is going to pay those taxes is certainly not Chinese companies but us US citizens who want the products from abroad. The Chinese company is simply going to ship us the ordered product and for us to collect it we gonna have to pay the additional tax to collect our products. Why more taxes on our head? $800 isn't it a threshold to make a difference between what is imported for commercial reason and should be taxed and what is imported by citizens for their own use: just like when we cross the border back home and we don't pay taxes on small stuffs bought abroad. 2/ This idea is going to backfire on those small US businesses that are importing from China: all that are importing from China will pay more. Just like the IOSS in Europe all companies pay it, but it's systematically paid by the customer who orders. So not buying from China is better: and then again if I can't afford something my kid really want what should I do: not buy it anymore? This is a complicated question. Let's not be quick at deciding on something that can backfire. After all Temu is doing this right now at a loss not profit. Something must be done I'm not just sure that levying more taxes on us is a good idea.

On those platforms when buying item people need to think about does it meet US standard quality, like no lead paint in clothing, poison chemicals and hazardous chemicals in clothing and plastics. Before too long the US government will step in and push for change, hopefully it won't be too late. When dealing with US companies there is a standard of what is allowed and what isn't, I am not hating on China but they let a lot of stuff go.

It's because US people don't care about anything but shopping and getting it cheaper. We went through the process of losing manufacturing jobs to China for slave labor prices. Now we're losing retail businesses because China is setting up retail warehouses in America and shipping big quantities to them at a low cost. I just wonder when people in the US are going to wake up and stop supporting this. We need to manufacture our own and sell our own. By the time most people realize what's going on, it will be too late. The US will be owned by China. Stop crying about how nothing is made here and do something about it.

The large companies are the first guilty party ... they want to explode their profits, so they moved production to cheaper labor countries. And whatever they kept locally is with less employees and at a lower wage. They drain the money from society, and the normal people are left with less to survive and purchase things. So between a $30 Tshirt or a $5 one, the choice is made quickly. Now the same companies complain they can't sell or find employees ... products are too expensive and they pay too little .. and the circle is closed. Usual problem: greed
@kingleo1128
@kingleo1128 6 ай бұрын
@patrickcardon1643 It's true about the company greed, but for the most, we give those companies that power. Americans are vain trendsetters always having to have the latest and greatest. A pathetic generation who thinks they're owed everything without having to struggle. America will fall, and no other country will have to fire a single bullet. We'll do it to ourselves from within. “Haughty eyes, a proud heart, and evil actions are all sin” (Proverbs 21:4).

The thriving and successful emerge of Temu and others like Temu, is the result of the beginning of the new era when all buyers have close or direct access to producers; and therefore conditioning the existence of the merchant or e-commerce man to the lowest level of profit as a middleman or shipper. Which in this case, Temue being also a middleman by itself, while kicking out others in the West from the scene now, becomes the slave middleman who continues making less money now in hope of making more in the future, is doomed to be kicked out soon by others who will play with the same tools in this liberal relationship. Loose US and Western policies in this regard, and sophisticated schemes by the Chines players in this arena to control more of the Western consumer market, will have unsatisfactory outcomes in US and China and react adversely in a little while where there will be backlashes among the policy makers in US and Western countries, as well as bankrupted Temus in China.
