Louisiana has become the first state to require that the Ten Commandments be displayed in every classroom under a bill signed into law Wednesday. @@Newoah no I think we both know this is someone who would 100% support his or her chosen religion being taught and all others excluded. The fact that the 10 commandments really aren’t pushing any religion they’re just things that everyone of any faith should be doing. The fact that quite often few of them are illegal anyway speaks volumes. Anyone who has a problem with children being taught not to kill, steal, lie, lust over other men’s wives etc clearly is against morality.

I'm Jewish (you know, the religion where the 10 commandments actually came from) and even I recognize that this is unfair to others and shouldn't be taking place in a secular classroom.

So essentially instead of creating a curriculum that teaches morals based on what the average person believes regardless of religion is too hard? Why specifically use religious beliefs? People using the ‘whats wrong with teaching about morals’ card are intentionally leading the conversation with their bias rather than considering that there may be people who are from areligious or an entirely different religious background. People saying the country was founded on Christianity should also remember that the constitution is against religious indoctrination. So what gives?

Literally the 1st Commandment: “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.” Also in the 1st Amendment of the Constitution: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” I’d say requiring the Ten Commandments be enshrined in every school is establishing a religion.

Declaration of Independence , Preamble: “ We hold theses truths to be self-evident , that all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. “ Notice the words “ created “ and “Creator “ notice the lack of the word “evolved “. We have a beginning and everything else we learn is based on the beginning, and called history. Not that I agree with religion in the classroom, but this is the justification behind the Bible in schools. If we are teaching evolution then we must also teach creationism to show all views, just like any other scientific theory/ question.

The Constitution is a governing document did have a preamble but if you read it carefully, it doesn’t say any point specify a particular creator. You want to know why? It’s because, after seeing all the sectarian strife in Europe, the framers of the Constitution deliberately set up a secular government. As for your at equivocating Evolution for religion. We teach evolution in schools because it is extremely well supported by actual evidence. Creationism has no evidence supporting it whatsoever, which is why it isn’t taught in schools. Seperation of church and state is what Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter to a church who wrote him asking him about his views on religion. It is not in the Constitution. Many Founding Fathers wrote letters to people about questions they had. It was opinion.

Separation of Church and State is one of the most misunderstood and misquoted concepts in America's history. The"wall of separation" Jefferson was referring to in his letter to ministers about the Establishment Clause was intended to protect religion from the state, not the state from religion. As in, there would be no one forced state religion and Congress can't tell you what you have to believe. It was not a repudiation of Judeo-Christian morals, as many of the Founders were themselves religious. Instead, it has been misused in recent decades to push a state religion of absolute atheism in this country's public schools. We didn't have all the school shootings and complete lack of respect and basic decency when there was prayer in school. In my parents' generation, there was even Bible study in public schools. We have lost our moral compass in this country.

Teddy Roosevelt used no book at all. "The United States government is not in any way founded on Christianity." Sam Adams, founding father, signer of the U.S. Constitution and second president of the United States stated and signed at the Treaty of Tripoli, 1797. This was ratified by the U.S. government during Adam`s administration. This is not arguable. Your only point is on the top of your head. Go sit down.

The sabbath was on Saturday and was intended as a day of rest. We kept that practice in society, which is why we have the weekend as a day most people have off work. Sunday was chosen as the day most people go to church because that’s the day of the resurrection. The sabbath was intended to be practical, not steeped in tradition, but it became that way after time. Jesus ran into a lot of problems with the Pharisees because they added so many layers to what was actually in the Bible.

@@terryparker1694 Yes and no. The Old Testament is the story of the Hebrews, Yahweh's chosen nation but much of the time they refused to believe Him and walk in His ways but because of their disobedience salvation came to the Gentiles in the form of Yahusha Christ.

Uh people need to know their history. It was used very explicitly as the laws of our country. If these arent in the classrooms, kids will truly forget their history.

Knowing your history and having the commandments on a wall, is in no way indoctrinating people to abide by such a lifestyle or by those laws.
