My parents and older siblings emigrated as 'ten pound poms' in 1951. I was in utero and born not long afterwards. My mother wanted to emigrate earlier but she was involved in a serious accident and had to wait until she was well again. We first lived in those Nissan huts, left over from WW2, in a migrant hostel. My father, eventually got a job and we moved into a country area where Dad worked for the State Electricity Commission. Cheap, decent housing was supplied. I grew up with many other immigrants from all over the British Commonwealth and Europe and we all got on well together. We children thank our parents for their decision to emigrate to Australia. We are blessed to live in this wonderful country. We all had good education, went on to tertiary education and had professional careers and own our homes and property. FYI Australia has 7-9 climate zones as it is a vast land. There is everything from tropical rainforests, to deserts to alpine snowfields. England would fit into out second smallest state of Victoria.

Struggled through 2 episodes. A load of woke nonsense. I was 6, at school in Oz in 1956. A third of the kids were immigrants and we also had Aboriginal students. Immigrants were from Greece, Italy, Holland, Germany, Ireland, UK and others.........Zero Racism or Nation Conflict.
