Thank you for the tip on the water with the zipper. I own a Peak Design messenger and I leave that bag in the pouring PNW rain no problem. I ordered the Tenba Axis and would have done the same. Gotta get out the rain protection to be safe

Thanks Rob, if this had water resistant zips I'd get it straight away. Just curious how big the rain cover is when packed up? And how quick is it to put over the bag?

I just watched the Olympus Birding stream (good stuff!) and noticed this bag, after some researching found this video and it gives answers to all my thoughts! :) Carrying M1X + 300/4(+1.4x), 40-150/2.8, M1ii and few primes with me and seems this bag would fit them all. Top/side door size info was very useful

Hi! Great video and great demonstration of the bags features. I do have a question. What stops the back flap from opening up automatically, from the weight of the gear?

Thanks a lot! The zipper on the main flap is substantial. I have not had ANY problems with the bag opening automatically.

Hey Rob, great review! I’ve got one concern about the backpack. Unlike the Solstice model, the axis has the straps attached not to the body of the backpack but to the laptop compartment, it makes me think that if the zipper breaks while you’re carrying the bag all the gear will immediately fall out and be seriously damaged. What are your feelings about the zipper? Thank you!

Thanks Emilio! I have been asked this question about the AXIS bags before. At this point I have been dragging the same 24L bag all over the place for a few years, and I have never seen any hint that the zipper is failing, opening, or otherwise presenting a problem. 🤙

Hi Rob, thank you for this review, I was looking for this. I'm confused between this bag and the Lowepro paratactic 450IIAW. I have a Sony A7III with 4 lenses and a magic 2 pro. Will it fit? what do you recommend?

I haven't used the Lowepro, but I believe the AXIS 24L would hold your gear, depending on how big your lenses are.

Hey Rob! Thanks for the great review. I was just looking to see if this bag would fit my laptop, which is an Acer Helios 300. It's a 15.6 inch gaming laptop, so looking to see if it would fit in the bag. Tenba advertised the bag as being able to fit a 17 inch laptop so your thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I just measured the laptop sleeve on my Axis 24l. It is pretty much exactly 27cm (~10,5") wide and roughly 2,5cm (~1") deep. My Predator Helios 300 17.3" obviously doesn't fit but since the 15.6" version is a bit smaller, I'd say you should be able to squeeze it in there. Also, when it comes to advertisement, most companies use MacBooks as a reference which, even as 17" models, are rather slim and relatively small, so always take that with a grain of salt and read the fine print.

Can a 17” laptop (MSI 17”) fit in the laptop section of the Tenba Axis 24L Backpack? Description says it does, but the actual measurements [like on B&H] don’t reflect this. Could you advise/verify? Thx in advance.

I’m afraid I don’t have a 17” laptop to try. I would measure your laptop and go by the specs online

Thinking of getting one for myself. Only thing I’m still puzzled with is the size of the side pouch. Do you think that I could fit a 0.6 litre CamelBak waterbottle in it? The diameter of the bottle is 7cm. I wanna do a bit of hiking with the bag, so water is essential.

Sorry, it’s 750ml bottle with 7.5cm diameter actually.

It fits a “regular” size bottle. Probably not a fat Nalgene though

HI Rob, You mentioned the waist strap is removable on the 24L, was it also removable on the 20L?

Hi Nicholas, Yes, the belt comes off of the 20L as well!

Maybe a game changer for me. Looking for a bigger one my venguard is old and not good enough for me now this days. the 20l looks great for my lumix gx8 and small lenses. 👍👍👍

snippe photography I left the Lumix team a little while ago. I’ve been using the Olympus gear for a couple of months and I absolutely love it! I know what you mean about the Peak hype 😉

@@RobKnight ok I think a good choice. micro four third is great and not over yet. Panasonic gives the g line not the right place the s is the nr1 now. Im trying to be a ambassador for the m4/3 line I love this sensor and size of the bodys. Only last week I'm thinking Olympus is m4/3 to maybe not a wrong decision to look at this brand.

That’s exactly what I was feeling. Lumix is focused on full-frame, while Olympus is still innovating with m4/3. The E-M1X is a serious machine!!
