Reminds me of a day in middle school when after the first class in the morning I noticed a random onion on the teacher's desk (physics/chemistry classroom btw). I asked why it was there (assuming it was for some chemistry demonstration) and the answer was "you can take it if you want". So I munched on it during the rest of the school day.

Onion is spicy? Well I consume 50g of birds eye chill and raw garlic on a daily basis so maybe my tolerance to chillies is high

It's not really spicy per se. I really like spicy foods, but raw onion as is does not cause the same effect as capsaicin, instead it just hurts like a chemical burn. Onions contain a bunch of sulphur compounds, which turn into basically sulphuric acid for a little while
