Welcome to a video on Thenmala Eco Tourism. Situated in Kollam district, Kerala, Thenmala Eco Tourism is about 74 km from Thiruvananthapuram.
Our family went there at the end of May 2023 when it was hot during the final days of summer.
The first place we reach is the Thenmala boating center, a part of Shenthuruni Eco-Tourism. Kutta Vanchi (Coracle) and Safari boats are available here.
The next place is the Kallada Dam under the Kallada Irrigation Project. We need to get entry tickets from the counter and walk a bit to reach the top of the dam. Only mobile photos and videos are allowed. The view from the top of the dam is mesmerizing.
On the way to the exit, there is a small refreshment stall. But beware of monkeys around, which are ready to grab the eateries.
Next, we went to the Thenmala Eco Tourism office. There we can select different packages including, adventure, butterfly park, trekking, musical fountain (at 7 pm) etc. We didn't select any as we were tired of walking and it was very hot. There is a small canteen inside the premises. The booking facility for the Senthuruni safari is also nearby this office.
We then proceeded towards the Chenkotta road where we can see the popular 13th railway arch bridge, Palaruvi waterfalls, and Aryankavu Ayyappa temple.
Thenmala is a very good place to spend time with family and stay.
