Yeah, I'm liking him so far. The guy came in and has tried his best with what we had. We had program issues and a ton of transfers. Still getting the job done either way.

@@LucidDream exactly. I have told ppl since 2010 every coach that has come in has struggled big time year 1 of course. But so far with Huepel the team just looks different and plays hard and the offense has moved the ball and looked pretty good against every single team we have played. Including against Alabama and Florida. And Huepel is just doing all of this in his first year with no recruiting class of his own or anything. Just with the guys we fortunately had stay with us through another coaching staff change. The Florida game we moved the ball on them just didn’t get it in the end zone and score many points. If our RB makes that easy catch on 4th and 2 of 3 I think it was in the second he has blockers and a ton of green grass in front of him. He probably would have scored and it would have been a one possession game. Instead he drops a pass that hit him right in the hands with no defender around 🤦🏻‍♂️. And we turn the ball over and what could have easily been a one possession game becomes a 3 possession game fairly late. And Alabama game we had a long nice score to cut it within 7 points a few mins into the 4th quarter. Then of course Alabama takes advantage of Al their talent and depth long into a game, which we have no depth whatsoever. Much less like an Alabama team which has I’m sure the most and best depth out of any school in the entire country. Hopefully after a couple of really solid recruiting classes we can be having those 10+ win seasons! GBO 🍊

And if Hendan Hooker decides to return for 1 more year. That is going to decide if we can have a really good year next season IMO. I think Kiper has him as the number 10 QB ranked in next years NfL draft. So we will see what he chooses. Either way it’s been fun to watch him and our offense after he finally got the start at QB.

We already have people who can coach the defense. We just need some time and bring in some talent. It's not really their fault if the players don't go out there and actually execute. (Tackling/covering)

@@garbagegoober2295 Yeah, we just don't have a lot of depth. We lost a lot of guys, but Heupel is doing his best with what he was given. I post on VolNation forums and someone brought up that we should consider getting rid of Tim Banks at the end of the season. This person got completely lambasted for even suggesting it. It's not a coach or coordinator problem. It comes down to talent and players going out an executing what is being taught. Defense wasn't great, but they did get some key stops and Taylor got that pick 6 which arguably won us the game. They were out there for like 40+ minutes of the game. They tried their best and didn't give up.

Tim Banks is doing amazing with what he has to work with.....and this defense is doing A TON OF PLAYS really well!!! I Love all our coaches and players!!

The only thing wrong with the defense is depth TN lost 30 players to the transfer portal a majority of those players are starting for instance Crouch is starting linebacker at Michigan State, I could name a list but it's too long TN has a good defensive coach they just don't have the depth.

It's actually not. I want Tennessee fans to be more positive. Say something like, our poor defensive unit was on the field for too long, but they played their hearts out against a really good Kentucky offensive line and WON US THE GAME. you people forget, possibly because ESPN can't make a proper highlight video, that this Tennessee defense, on the field for 100 plays, sealed the game for us. You should be thanking them for giving their all to Tennessee... not criticizing them

@@davidlounsberry4127 You also have to credit Kentuckys sloppy play they aren't as good as people think, KY beat a Florida team that has a record of 4 & 5, barely beat UTC, won by a TD with Missouri, won by less than a TD to a South Carolina team that has a 5&4 record, beat an LSU team that has a 4&5 record. Ky is an explosive team but not as great as everyone makes them out to be TN is at least 2 more years away from being very competitive in the SEC and this will all be determined of how bad the NCAA punishes them for past violations, and how well he recruits.

In the past 13 seasons, UT has had 8 losing seasons. This is the time frame that UK has made it more of a rivalry. Prior to that, when UT was regularly competing for SEC East titles, a good season for UK was competing with SC for 4th in the east.
