From the "Can we bring some Memphis in here" to the "Lord have mercy"...was the best live music performance I've ever seen.

Chris, Morgan, Justin vocals were fire. The strings, keys, horns, choir, OMG musical magic. I get shivers every time I hear this.

Its one of those rare performances that just cant be topped.

I love the difference between JT hitting a note and Chris hitting a note, it's like the difference between a car horn honking at you and the train whistle when it hits you a full speed,one makes you jump and the other rips your world apart.

I was surprised that they did not put this amazing performance last in the show. It had to be hard to follow. Great reaction, legendary indeed.

In my experience, people tend to generalize "took me to church' to mean moved them, but you used it appropriately to the context I know. The background (vocals and musicians) were like the driving force to Drink You Away. The chord progressions, style and how they took their beats (played or broke to let the singers do their thing) took what would have been a really good performance to one of if not The Best live performance of any awards show (maybe not the Stellars?). You are right; you could hear this type of music, and in some cases singing, in many a church on any given Sunday (depending on the type of church other day) service or event. Just change the lyrics and you bet the Church would've been "broke down". I have returned to this performance for years now. Thanks for your insightful notes.

Thought I'd drop some info for anyone interested since there are people still replying to me on my older comment declaring the fact it is a cover to say "I don't know if you realize but Stapleton ACTUALLY did write tennesseewhiskey." Tennessee whiskey was written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. First performed by David Allan Coe then by George Jones. Both were quite a long time before the awesome performance by Chris Stapleton. They are all great versions.
