Mohammed might be slipping, but a point worth pointing out is hawk eye isn't always on point, especially on clay court. What the hawk eye shows is a simulation based on the ball's trajectory, very precise on hard courts. but not when there is an uneven surface, the ball's behavior can be hard to predict and simulation can slightly deviate from reality, which is why clay court tournaments still use ball marks as reference. So when Hawk Eye and Chair have different calls, it doesn't always mean the chair is wrong. (on clay court)

I don’t understand sometimes there’s a very wrong call like the umpire that didn’t see the ball. Then one player (Dzumhur) starts arguing for 10 mins and no one asks the other player? Why didn’t the umpire ask the other player if there was a ball?! Then this other player sitting there quietly not saying a thing is also maddening. It happens all the time. For a moment you’d forget there are two players involved.

Late response, but every umpire's performance is being judged and graded by supervisor (hence, their only reason of existence), with best graded umpire's get to referee most important matches (like GS finals). When umpire's do a lot of mistakes or makes a critical mistake, he gets a bad grade and has to referee less important matches like challenger tour or something like, I don't really know how their promotion system works, but that's how it works in general

Literally just allow Hawkeye to be used on clay and stop relying on umpires visually inspecting ball marks

Its crazy that the umpire didnt say anything to the Italian crowd. They were booing Nishioka the whole time and it is not ok.

I agree with Dzumhur here. Has anyone ever seen a supervisor come to court and actually do anything?

I had ever only seen the end of the Munar Kokkinakis match where Kokkinakis looked like a bully but Munar was being annoying, Kokkinakis was right, maybe just not the right manner

I hate it when umpire admits she/he has made a mistake, then go on and say sorry but she/he couldn’t do anything about it. Why admitting you made a mistake if you are not allowed to change the outcome? If an umpire doesn’t act too sure, why could they think they could convince the players that they are right in the first place? Sometimes when players get heated, umpires got too much verbal abuse unfairly, but aren’t they supposed to act like an authority on court? If you don’t act tough, players won’t listen to you.

Theyve had the technology for automated line calling on clay for years, why they still check the marks is beyond frustrating. Since like 25% if the time the marks are wrong

@@rafarequeni822 that was a while ago not anymore, the technology has greatly improved. The Madrid open uses a Hawkeye challenge system instead of the ball marks

@@a_goblue2023 That's Foxtenn, and it's only better because adds a fast-speed video of the bounce of the ball. The trajectory projections fail as much as the Hawkeye's. The ATP decided that from 2025 onwards, all clay courts should have to use this technology, but it's expensive as hell.

Managers of clay tournaments need to work and stop this sheet and start to use the hawk eye challenge because its very bad what we still seeing in 2024 its so bad

Do the line umps get microphones? because I genuinely wonder if the speed of sound is a factor here. The chair ump will hear their calls that tiny bit after the player will hear the call. Genuine question if anyone has thoughts on this, I can understand if it seems silly.

Jesus, Nishioka acts like a newbie on court. Is this the first time he had to deal with hostile and rowdy crowds? In the East, crowds are typically more polite and quiet, but in the West and other part of world, crowds are not so polite. It’s time for him to learn to deal with that
