Wow, it has been a while since I last posted! Here is a special one, being a tennis player myself, I find it fascinating to look into these topics. I personally believe tennis is the most difficult sport to play at a high level. Due to the physicality, Mentality, and all the minute technicalities, I have come to this conclusion. I am very interested to hear what other people have to say about this work! Be sure to like, comment and subscribe for more content! Also, Is tennis the hardest sport in the world? The hardest thing about tennis is that it requires unbelievable timing to the fraction of a second with precise fine motor movements of the wrist and hand along with quick mental decisions of shot selection combined with the grueling endurance of multi-hour matches with no time outs. Weakness in any of those areas leave you struggling in the easiest tennis matches.

same. and honestly we've lost sooo many new players to easier games like padel tenis and pickleball because those games are fun and easier to play. Beginner adults at least are going elsewhere. I don't blame them. Coaches speak to technical for beginner players and all they want to do is get to playing. Not stand around hearing how the pros do it from coaches posturing a bit to much. Dude, I just bought a bag of 20 tennis balls for 8$, and two used rackets in good shape for 15$. Free courts everywhere. You’re silly. Tennis is the cheapest sport I play. Disc golf, archery, Firearms, mtnbiking, etc ALL cost than tennis. Even if you buy a top of the line racket a few hundred bucks for a racquet that will last you years is not a big investment. You’ll spend more money learning bjj
@dundee7631
@dundee7631 4 жыл бұрын
Adrianna sanchez If you were really serious about tennis, it would cost you a lot more. You’re not counting for tennis shoes, clothes, racquet bags, getting your racquet re-strung, etc. Most GOOD tennis racquets cost 200+ dollars and shoes can get pretty expensive too. You should always have 1-2 backup racquets just in case your strings break. You said the racquet can last you a few years, but a lot of players change them often because they might want a different weight, size, or type (by type I mean if they help with power, topspin, etc). If you’re playing for a team or academy, the uniforms can get pretty costly as well. If you want to buy a basket for balls or a ball machine, you have to spend a lot of money. Tournaments cost money to enter too. Of course, most of this is for people who are serious about the sport. It is anything but cheap.

In my opinion, tennis is indeed the hardest not because u r alone, I would say it’s the hardest and I can say this with certainty because I actively play it, because in tennis, there is no time to follow, unlike football, nba, nfl, or mbl, in tennis the match ends whenever one of the players win 2 sets or in grand slams, 3 sets so this can lead to matches up to 2-6 hours of constantly playing.

I agree it is insanely difficult and cant believe anyone would argue against it. I will say I still think combat sports like Boxing and MMA edge it out as the most difficult. Also things like ultra marathoning or free solo climbing. But I would compare more with MMA as both require so much focus on thousands if not millions of variables, but someone trying to do your sport while your opponent is trying to knock you out as a little something lol. Off to the courts!

I feel your point, however it is possible to become a world champion boxer starting af the age of 18 e.g. Joshua. In tennis this is unheard of. Top national ranked players (who didn't even go pro) started at the age of 4-5 practicing multiple times a week just to get the fundamentels in. If you're starting at the age of 10-12 you Just don't have enough time to het the techniques required on a high enough level. Remember, kids who started playing at the age of 5 are now training around 20-25 hours a week at the age of 12.

Doubles tennis is tough but Singles Tennis is by far the hardest sport to play at any level against a similarly skilled opponent. Most team sports are actually more fun to play than hard to play. This most physically and mentally demanding sport is mma. Fighting is the single most grueling sport and it deserves that title. MMA fighters also need to weight cut where they need to loose up to 8-20% of their body weight and then gain all of it back the day before the fight. Mentally fighting in general is the hardest. Fighters will fight with torn ACL’s, broken shins, broken ribs, broken noses, concussions and muscular more and must keep a steady amount of stamina the entire fight. Tennis doesn’t really meet those demands.

One of the hardest parts, and what separates tennis from other sports, is not knowing how long the match will last. It could end in a few minutes because of an injury or it could go for hours and hours. The longest match was 11 hours long (Isner-Mahut at Wimbledon). Hypothetically a match could even never have an end, due to the deuce system (you have to win 2 points more than the opponent to win a game, and 2 games to win a set if there's no tiebreak). Anyway I think boxing is harder than tennis. Tennis is very hard but at least you don't get hit in the head all the time and get brain damage.

I like this Video very much. Concerning the demand on athleticism tennis has changed maybe more than other ball games, however pure athletics like running is even more demanding here. What worries me, is, that there are many suggestions and initiatives to alter tennis. In my opinion that would be fatal. Because tennis stands firmly on a very old and admired traditions. The grand slam tournaments and some peculiar rules and counting system for example. The coach of Tsitsipas and Serena Williams, Mouratoglou, suggested to allow coaching and the presence of personal coaches during the match. That would kill the very idea of tennis as i understand it: it is a civilized way of combat. Two gentlemen or ladies, or if you prefer „individuals, meet in friendly yet competitive way. It is not only a test of physical endurance, stamina, technical skills, reaction, but even more a test of how the athlete as an independent individual copes with challenges, overcomes frustration and persists until the very last point and still is able to shake hands with the opponent. In essence, tennis is a test of character. Much much more than in a team sport or just running. This very last aspect would be shrieked to the brink of extinction if coaches were allowed. Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are not the best athletes of their sport, but the most competitive ü, long time persisting, and smartest individuals. So, please Mouratoglou, leave your hands off this.

"Civilised way of combat" That is my favourite way of putting tennis into words. The mental battle makes the sport more beautiful. During the time on the court it is better for the players to be self-reliant. I don't want to see what Mouratoglou thinks on court honestly. On my side as a viewer, I prefer it when players manage themselves to adjust and figure out their best methods

I think due to there not being an element of physical violence in the game it makes it incomparable to combat sports. Not easier but totally incomparable. I feel like when it comes to sports, the best way to talk about things is by ceilings when going pro. Tennis is just, that one sport where it's governing bodies internationally hate it, fans feel the need to treat its players like Pomeranians that aren't allowed to do any wrong (basically like jpop idols by their corrupt companies), players are always financially pressured to win, where tennis players are their own companies and brands but operate at a perpetual loss and are forced to fly international thus making expenses... MORE expensive... Rackets are expensive Stringing is expensive Strings are expensive You pay for your own coaches You pay for your own physio You pay for practice/court time Unless you win games, you won't get sponsors If you don't get sponsors, even if you win games, you will never make as much Coaching doesn't pay well You pay for your travel & housing when going to tournaments On top of that, the tennis balls you get don't even last that long, maybe 2 or 3 matches at a high level tops, maybe just half a match... Just starting to play tennis is filled with its costs and trials, too. Depending where you go, you still have to pay for court access (at times) You can't just put a hoop down like basketball or a net for football/soccer, or just throw a ball like American football and baseball You have to pay for a racquet, you need a net, the distance and length of the net matter or else we aren't really playing tennis anymore, depending on the country you live in you might have a reduced number of tennis courts depending where you live now meaning you:re fighting for tennis court space, how about tennis balls? Oh no you broke the strings on your racket, you pay for those, and the string job Cheap racquets exist but sometimes cost more than a basketball, and you need at least 2 unless you have a giant wall, but that's not tennis anymore (wall ball, racquetball, and squash are sports, too) And this is just stuff to consider when just casually playing tennis. Tennis by itself, I don't think is that hard a sport to *PLAY*, it takes on a lot of skills that transfer back and forth into the sport. Throwing a football - serving & smashes The dynamics of swinging a baseball bat/golf club - forehands and backhands How to hit a jab and a cross - volleys (this is a stretch) This isn't even the only sport where knowing how to split step and moving on a dime is a thing, I'm 100% sure that the defensive movements in basketball transfer back to tennis. In tennis, you don't have to communicate with anyone unless this is doubles then sure You are not in any physical contact with your opponent You don't have to learn a bunch of techniques outside of knowing how to spin the ball with volleys, forehands, backhands, and serves, this isn't like judo/BJJ/MMA Tennis is hard as it has a TALL ceiling but it isn't the hardest to start. It's just, tennis requires so much time and money to get good, you may as well never reach that ceiling as you drown in your own debt

500 tennis shots per match on average seems very low. And can’t be the highest of any sport. Any level squash match where players are of a similar standard and can hold a few point rallies will well exceed that. I see tennis as harder in terms of a match, but minute to minute squash just beats it out. Like 5 hours of top level tennis sure that’s doable. But try 5 hours of top level squash and their gonna die

how does a player pays on touring just from place to another?
@ViperVenomHD
@ViperVenomHD 4 жыл бұрын
Entirely with their own pocket money. No expenses paid by their team like other sports. So if it costs a player a total of 15K for a full on tour tournament, they might have to make it to round of 16 or the quarter finals to just break even. (Not counting grand slams)

When I was in HS playing on the courts, we would always have hecklers thinking the sport is easy (other athletes too), so I would usually let them try it, none of them ever being able to touch a ball, let only catch up to a decently hit ball by me. But I could catch a football/run a route, make layups and 3s, hit a soccer ball pretty hard/pass well, and keep up with the track team. It's no question the hardest sport second or equal to soccer, not including combat sports. Except when I'm playing bad, then it's the worst sport ever invented, and whoever conceived it was dumb.

I'm a tennis player but sports physcologist/experts have made this research and the hardest sport is boxing/martial arts. Then tennis is one of the top non physical contact sport. If tennis balls start hitting your head when you play tennis then you can call it the hardest sport.

Nice summary. I’m compelled to agree mostly because of my own personal bias. Perhaps another note would include how difficult it is to succeed, given that there are barely 150 men in the world that can make a living at it. When you consider the length of a season an that the players are responsible for managing themselves week by week assuming all the costs of travel in the hopes of winning a paycheque, their determination to continue must be fueled by real passion! Team sports will often provide coaching, physio support and have home games in a shorter season. A tennis player that has a family is lucky to have the opportunity to see them with any regularity if they cannot afford to bring them along. Such a lonely sport!

How does badminton compare to tennis?

Tennis the hardest sport ??? Better look at this !!! : The number of rallies, mean rally time and actual playing time in 30 minutes of play was also compared for the different skill levels and sports. Results showed that playing tennis raised the players' heart rates to 68-70% of their predicted maximum heart rate (PMHR). Playing squash and badminton could raise heart rates to 80-85% of the players' PMHR which was significantly higher than the values obtained for tennis.

So? How long does a badminton match last for? These arent surprising results. This alone doesnt mean anything on itself. A track cyclist will have a higher PMHR than a road cyclist. It says LITERALLY nothing.

In my opinion f1 is harder way harder s so you have to go 200+ mph with high g forces and the heat from the car(about 50 Celsius or 120f) + braking which takes to full brake about 125kg and all of this for 2 hours you have to have good neck strength and endurance

As much as I love tennis, including playing it, can it compare with figure skating or synchronised swimming in terms of coordination? And strength/stamina is so much required in wrestling/boxing, in marathon running, in heavyweight athletics. Other important aspect is the direct menace to life: in extreme sports like moto-jumping or F1 racing the risks are much bigger. So tennis is indeed among hardest, but it takes only a small part of all these other sports’ difficulties

Tennis is a sport for all sizes ranging from under 5, 7 to over 6,10 wait a minute who is under 5,7???? No one in the last 20 years gotcha tennis is a sport played world wide true!!! The average hieght for a male in the world is 5,9 meaning if you are shorter than average by more than a inch or 2 you basically would be first in resent history to make it as a pro. The nba ( also known as the league that height helps you the most)has had people as short a muggie and earl boikins who were 5,3 and 5,5. And come on tennis is more techical than almost every other sport athleticism spectates the best of the best but what sport at the highest level is that not the case. I have seen some questionable people in the department of athleticism with decent size go d1 with being purely technically sound and a good serve. So no I also disagree with tennis being one of the most athletically demanding sports aswell think about football, basketball alcarez nadal monfils all very great athletes but they would not stand out when compared with many nba and nfl athletes
