Care to talk some more about the "power triangle"? I feel there is a LOT there that could potentially take a lot of serves to the next level. Nice to hear you stressing Internal Shoulder Rotation AND then pronation... not just pronation.

Why do you mix the two different relevant joints and rotations: that of elbow flexion decreasing the elbow angle under 90 degrees during the pre-trophy/back swing phase and that of shoulder external rotation making the hand 'move over the bicep'? Keep these two motions clearly separate and that contributes to the validity as well as practical value of your analysis and instruction.

Great tape and analysis of the Russian school of athletics. How does an American instructor teach these specialized athletic mechanics?

Excellent demo & explanation but not easy to get it all right as explained. Often the right to left gets shortened as I rush up to hit the ball & lose power as a result.

Would a slight toss alteration solve that? Maybe toss higher to give yourself more time? Just thinking

Hi James/anyone, I'm struggling to 'lead with my elbow' part naturaly. I can force it and I believe I just about have the Mobility but gets undone during full motion. Any drills/suggestions to make this more loose and flexible

I’m definitely no expert, but assuming being right handed, I think about leading with my right shoulder instead of the elbow. From the trophy position, when I push off the ground, I’m rotating my hitting arm shoulder counter clockwise up from let’s say 6 to 3, while the left shoulder goes down from 12 to 9. At this point if you are relaxed, the raquet should drop, then the elbow can go up. I find that if I think about leading with elbow, I usually don’t get a good raquet drop. This may not be correct instructions, but thinking this way has helped me .

Nice serve. But why does your body stay bent? Most advanced players straighten their bodies when they hit the ball, which lookes better and makes more sense.

Many videos of pro serves show the same “bend” you referred to in this video.
