Many people have asked me how to swing faster on their tennis forehands.
Today you are in luck.
I am going to show you the #1 drill to help you swing faster at the tennis forehand.
First you need to move up to the net to work on your tennis forehand.
We are going to use the swinging volley drill to work on your tennis forehand.
Hitting the ball out of the air on your tennis forehand will allow you to swing faster.
Practicing to swing faster is the only way you are going to swing faster on the tennis forehand.
Teaching your body to swing faster is the key.
Hitting a swinging volley allows you to work on your timing and accelerating at the right time on the tennis forehand.
Try using the swinging volley drill to work on your tennis forehand to swing faster and speed up your racquet head speed.

This was a great tip - I looked at it right before going out to teach a lesson and used it with a student. Immediate improvement in her forehand, she marveled at it. As far as an amateur forehand, I've been on the court with Jeff and the balls he hits are in a different realm than what others hit. He effortlessly hits with power that you can feel as it goes past you.

I have seen Nicolás Almagro's drills develop racket head speed with swing volley too. His coach feeds the ball to baseline zone and Almagro swing the ball before it bounce like swing volley shot from the baseline. .. I will try, thank you.

I will try that next time at the court. I tend to do too much top spin which results in slower forehand thus sufficient time for the opponent to reach the ball.

I am not sure I understand how this will give me more racket head speed. Is it because it is more difficult to time, or because you must move more agressively to the ball? I will be sure to give it a try, always love a new tool in my belt! Thanks for the vid.

hey Jeff, how do I figure out my right grip size? I'm using 4½ but my grip change between forehand backhand and continental isn't perfect. the tape measure shows my size is 5 but that seems absurd

If I use a smaller grip I'm unable to differentiate between various grips and if I add too many over grips I'm unable to feel the bevels. The racquet's original grip size is only 4¼ could that be a problem? I'm confused.

balls that have no pace you would use the swinging volley on. faster balls you use a standard volley. the shots are so different I don't see how one could mess up the other

good drill. only downside is that most players are too uncoordinated to hit swinging volleys lol
