I think one of the main reasons Djokovic had so much success. Is aside from his obvious brilliance. He never had a younger world class player putting pressure on him. Alcaraz is the first world star to emerge since Djokovic. In that Wimbledon final defeat. Djokovic made errors that he would not have made against Federer or Nadal. There is something about the younger challenger upsetting the mental health of the previous king. Medvedev Zverev and all that jazz were decent players. But they were not world stars. Djokovic had 15 years without facing this. Federer had it from 2008 onwards. It makes a big difference to the level of pressure. It's easier to chase than be chased. Also Djokovic fans go on about the crowd being against him. But this may have favoured him. The one night when he had the entire crowd against Medvedev. He lost in straight sets. Greatest tennis era ever. Peace and love.

He's the GOAT. Being the GOAT in tennis is, first of all, being the GOAT about tennis skills. Federer was way more fragile phisically than Nadal and Djokovic, and not a huge fighter. Still, he managed to win 20 GS and 103 titles, thanks to his incomparable tennis skills. The other two are better athletes, their best skills are skills that also a basketball player or a football player can have. Roger is a better tennis player. If you have to describe tennis with one player, it's him. Like Jordan for basketball, Muhammad Ali for boxing, Maradona for football. Roger is the GOAT, no doubt.

You're misleading the GOAT and the most popular player. *The GOAT imposes himself by his achievements and records* , we don't vote here, you're wrong if you think it's a preference choice. Please no need to create a biaised narrative just to praise your favourite player. Statistics exist for a reason and allow us to be impartial GOAT = most dominant player ever Absolutely not who the most popular or beautiful is, off-topic, tennis is not iceskating or a popularity contest. The GOAT is based on stats and records, period. There are, as all things, a variety of feelings surrounding sportspeople and their accomplishments and rivalries, but *the stats don't lie contrary to fans* . The numbers will always be relevant and that's the point of using numbers to show factual, unbiased and objective reality.. 🎾🏆🥇📊🐐

What's set Federer apart when he was in his prime was his movement. Players couldn't hit many winners past him. Once he wasn't as quick anymore in late 2000s early 2010s he was challenge. He only managed to win 4 Grand Slams between 2012-2018 compare to the 16 Grand Slams he won between 2003-2010. He was very talented had a unique style of play. I loved the way he played when I first saw him playing at Wimbledon 2005. His games was different from all the other players that were playing at the time and the current players playing today

It's a shame Novak was injured in 2017, when Roger returned with the Neo backhand. He would've added some numbers to his side in the H2H like he did against Rafa. He was unbelievable in that stretch, especially given his age. All I know is I'd have liked to see some matches with those two then. Oh well, life and injuries happen to all of them, so it wasn't to be.

RF competed with Novak and Rafa when he was past his prime, 5yrs older to them. Prime RF from 04 to 08, was a new level of tennis that will never be surpassed. His forehand is the greatest shot in tennis history. Novak and Rafa never had any competition, RF was the one providing that competition, when he should not have had to thx to other tennis players who just could not compete with Novak and Rafa. Novak and Rafa benefited greatly from slower surfaces, more rallies from back court, more lateral movement, and most importantly racket technology that allows them to hit offensive shots from very defensive positions. Both are defensive player, RF is an offensive player. Tennis unfortunately love rallies, not attacking tennis.
@starlighthero6499
@starlighthero6499 Жыл бұрын
While Roger is the most aggressive of the 3, Nadal is still a very aggressive baseline mixed with all court play. Djokovic is more of a counterpuncher but he also has good all court skills too. Ig their main style of play still favors technology today though, but don't think that they're only defensive. They have long rallies since they're both good at defense and offense all over the court, though typically the back.

@Anthony Hirsch Nadal came very close to winning his first Wimbledon title in Straight Sets. But Federer took it to five. What's remarkable is that right after Nadal lost Set 4 his body language didn't show any negativity. He looked liked he won the Set. Any other player would have folded in the 5th.

So fitting that his final title would be in his quiet home town of Basel, for the 10th time. It's emotional to look back on that moment with hindsight knowing that would be the last time he'd pick up a men's singles title, we didn't know it at the time but I think we didn't take those moments for granted the older he got. A truly timeless talent, all time greatest in sport. You'll be so sorely missed, Roger. Thank you for giving us these memories.
