Yes Marton should be frustrated but he knows this is allowed on tour. And there will be many more future grunting players coming up. Marton was mostly pissed because he was losing the match. I watched the match and thought Baez's grunting was annoying (he may grunt for power because he is not a tall player). Eventually Marton started grunting back to try to annoy Baez. It was hilarious.
@MrMartin48705
@MrMartin48705 Жыл бұрын
They don't grunt for power, hell, Federer barely grunted twice in his whole career, and it was on tough shots that he wasn't prepared for, and when he was really tired. Rafa on the other side, a male Azarenka. It's a technique for trying to annoy your opponent. I mean like, I've played my fair share of around a hundred 5 setters in my life, and have only grunted a couple times when a shot was real tough or I felt like I needed to grunt in a different way.

@IHO2691 Жыл бұрын
@@paulatling8844 I said he "may" grunt for power. I don't know if that is Baez's case. The chair umpire makes the call on whether a continuous grunt is considered hindrance. He is right. New generation tennis players scream after every point even if it was unforced error. Lots of drama, lots of fake injuries… i miss Becker, Edberg, Sampras, Agassi, Federer era

If the guy's frustrated he should win the match, he just made himself look like an idiot. You put people in their place by showing them that your way is better, his opponent did not break any rules

I agree with some but not all of his point. I don’t mind when players OCCASIONALLY express their excitement with a shout or a fist pump after a great winner, especially when it comes at a crucial moment. This is normal and natural, and well within the bounds of good sportsmanship. Cheering too much after each and every winner you hit begins to seem like poor sportsmanship. Cheering an opponent’s error is always poor sportsmanship. As a spectator I hate when players try to rile up the crowd, flailing their arms to incite the crowd to make noise. That’s poor sportsmanship. All that said, poor sportsmanship on the part of your opponent or not, the sport of tennis is VERY demanding, both physically AND mentally. Champions must learn to block out all the noise and keep their focus. Sometimes the noise is a rude crowd. Sometimes the noise is a bad call. And yes, sometimes the noise is an ill-mannered opponent. Either way, champions learn to deal.

Alot of young players are actually coached to do this. I was when I was coming up, then I switched coaches and my new one put a stop to it.

What's your issue with him hyping himself for every point he wins. You're the one looking at it as every point you hit out. Get a grip man...
