If you use hiking poles then they are dual purpose.

Those Peggy Pegs have been holding well. I'll use them for big tarps for parties and EZ Ups too.

For hard ground the Boomstakes are best, the boom parts being useful mainly in softer ground. I carry a single 30cm ti stake along with the Peggies, to use as a ground probe to help place the Peggies, and to hammer pilot holes for them as necessary. Peggies are otherwise the least able to penetrate really hard ground, but they are lightest...

I've had a lot of cases on trail especially on the Superior hiking trail where after hiking all day came to sites with dodgy trees or weird hangs. The one Tensa Tree gives me more options. Handy when needed. Used it 3 times already.

I've returned to campsites where the trees were no longer there. I packed a trekking tree and was VERY glad I did.

250 pounds is the Warranty Weight. They may hold more but enter at your own risk: Trekking Treez support gathered-end hammocks up to 12 feet in length with reasonable sit height. We warrant the poles to hold users up to 250 pounds (110kg), ground conditions firm enough to hold the anchors permitting. Other types of hammocks that require support points up to 56 inches (140cm) high can work, but may present complications. For example, bridge-type hammocks will generate higher guyline forces, and thus may require firmer ground conditions than gathered end hammocks for the same user weights.

Yeah, it's not the pole strength that limits, but the reliability of the anchors in varying ground conditions. If the ground is really firm, you could use these just fine at well above #250, but we wouldn't want to give false hope in looser ground. If you're not backpacking anyway, we'd suggest Tensa4 as not having strong anchoring requirements.

Stomach sleeping in a gathered end like the Superior Grear would be difficult I think. For stomach sleepers the Amok Draumr or the Haven Hammock tent work good. Both are dependent on pads though.

Depending on soil it helps them not sink into ground. Tensa includes snow baskets for trekking poles for that function.

Do you mean fret buzz? I've been spending time learning to my own set-ups. Adjusting the neck and truss bar and setting string action. Been fun to do. Try to get the action not too high but also not buzzing on the frets.

I've heard a few stories of CF hiking poles breaking too. Not the Tensa poles but some of the CF hiking poles all the rage a few years back.Nothing is perfect. I agree....Nice that Tensa looked for a solution.

I'll note that there have been Zero instances of the main poles failing. They are bomber. It's just that the tarp lifter must always be properly guyed out, and no amount of documentation has been effective in preventing some customers from trying to tension the tarp to the unsupported tarp lifter/extension. That's the whole reason for the extra part (Tarp Lifter Connector, TLC): to break away in a manner that can be repaired in the field with tape, no damage to pricier parts. It shouldn't be necessary if you attach tarp in a manner that can't pull on the tarp lifter.

agreed. I had a very windy site last year, but my guying is... obsessive. however this added insurance is both clever, simple, and light enough to carry it anyway.

If you’re not backpacking with trekking poles already (Walmart isn’t a popular backpacking destination) Tensa4 is a better choice.

True, but you can't use any number of hammocks in treeless areas without something like this. Tensa also makes the much cheaper Solo that works similarly, except it's not a trekking pole, and we'd always recommend that if you don't always use trekking poles anyway, and are eager to replace their weight with a dual-use product like Treez.

If you think these are pricy check out the price of the YOBO cricket. Strong, compact, and light are not cheap. And with this being really the only feasible option for a backpackable hammock stand I'm surprised it doesn't cost significantly more. I'll gladly buy these for treeless north Dakota if they ever come back in stock to ensure not having to sleep on the ground again.

One must pay to Hang! Carbon fiber is not cheap. Priorities~~

Our Tensa Solo costs a lot less, but isn't a trekking pole. We don't know how to make a compelling dual-use product for less, and in fact the amount of hand labor required to make this niche product in low volumes means we're not raking it in on these either...

Not all are into it.

It’s mainly, if not entirely, to provide a failsafe in the event customers don’t follow directions. It does address a failure edge cases (that hasn’t actually happened) though: if main anchors fail while tarp lifter is guyed separately to ground, this could break off tarp lifter. So TLC breaks off in easily reparable form.

Reckon I set you up for that one.
