"Imagine a lager but actually nice" 😂 Great video man. If you want to make a dedicated ridgeline I recommend putting a bowline at one end and a tautline hitch at the other. Chuck some prusicks with toggles on and you'll be sorted! But yeah tautline hitch is a great knot for tarps set ups. Cheers.

Yeah got a lot to learn with optimal tarp set ups. I purchased some guy line tensioners and carabiners to make it super easy.

@@BackcountryKiwi where I was camped is near a rock shelter that has a few pots and buckets kept there. I think next trip I’m going lightweight. I have been going overboard recently.

I only use a tarp and bivvy, for me it's the perfect bush camp, I've tried all sorts of tents over the years but always come back to tarp and bivvy. A tent and tarp is a lot to carry. Your young and strong it's probably not an issue.
@AbelandVictoria Жыл бұрын
It was to much weight. The big Agnes tent isn’t exactly lightweight either. I think If I do rain tarp camps I’ll take my sea to summit tent which is only 1.6kg. The tarp is 700 grams I think so not to bad.
@nickransom9769 Жыл бұрын
Sorry I think I pushed a thumb down by accident 😯 I thought the Nemo was a possible combo with tarp as it would only put 200grams onto my existing bivvy weight but I am concerned about the durability for the type of tramping I like doing.
@AbelandVictoria Жыл бұрын
@@nickransom9769 the floor fabric is thin on the nemo. If you are not being careful with itI imagine a stone could pretty easy cause a rip. I will Probably also use a ground sheet with the nemo for this reason.

Enjoying your videos guys. Enjoyed the intro up Graham Valley Rd. What model Outback have you got and what do you reckon? I'm currently looking at a 2018 Premium. How does it go on the access roads around Nelson? Any concerns with it? Cheers.

Hey it’s 2017 I think. It has a lift kit on it and some a/t tyres and 17inch rims. It’s been great. Comfortable on the bumpy roads vs say a ford ranger. Heaps of space I have not had any issues.

Hi, thanks for the awesome video. Just wondering how to check if the place is allowed for a campfire while backpacking in New Zealand?

There will be fire ban notices. There are also backcountry rules for fires. If you google search you will find the info

Cool setup! Those weka were nuts...so brazen. Where can you find a regular spot without those guys. That Pernicious is too strong for my taste, like wimpy cloud breaks and hazed and confused.
@AbelandVictoria2 жыл бұрын
The weka in the Cobb don’t seem to be so aggressive but driving over there is sometimes a bit off putting as it take such a long time. I think I’ll try a wine next time. A mulled wine while it snows would be great.
