Yea it did ruin it, I was really looking forward to it. I’m doing it again during August but taking my Phoxx 1 instead, that tent is bulletproof 😂

@@hikingwiththeshackletons I’ve only had 2 nights in that MSR but so far I’ve found it great, both on high camps. Did notice yours has that little plastic bit that holds the roof pole in. I’ve got a Mongar 2 that’s similar and I’ve felt that’s strong enough. On my MSR it goes over 2 poles so instantly feels stronger and better balanced. I do also think at times dome style tents don’t make for good 1 person tents as they try and reduce a size but keep the height so in turn your left with a higher side for the wind to slam against. No much as a user you can do about that though but you do notice a better angle on the 2 man versions

@@Moffatmountainadventures as I showed in the film, I used a jubilee clip on the female side which gives it incredible strength and structure, so I’m happy with that. MSR are sending a replacement as I said, but I’ll keep that as a spare. I will use the MSR for multi day hikes, and stick with my ever faithful Phoxx 1 for summit camps. @@hikingwiththeshackletons Yeah, the design is great especially the room and head room for a one man tent. Liveable is a word you often hear used to describe them as you can certainly comfortably see out a long night in one in the rain. Tbh the Hubba are more of a lightweight backpacking tent than a mountain top tent. More for backpacking multi days and staying low or at campsites. I had the Hubba NX1 and sold it and got the cheaper Elixir 1 instead, mainly as it is stronger and I love the larger porch. I also prefer Polyester to Nylon fly sheets as it doesn't stretch when wet and dries quicker. If you still got your Phoxx II you might be best with that when winds are forecast as despite its price, as you already know, it can handle it well. MSR will definitely replace your pole, they are really good customer service wise. Enjoying your videos, only discovered your channel recently.

Yea you’re right, I should have dropped down a bit but was supposed to be heading over Kirk fell the next morning then on to great gable etc so didn’t fancy having to climb again 😂 I did think about using my PHOXX 1, in hindsight as I said on the film I should have used it. I’ll have a look at the Elixir soon. We’re heading out on a national trail soon so I want to use the NX1 for that but for future mountain expeditions I’ll use my PHOXX 1.
