Designed to accommodate up to a 39” tire (with additional tailgate reinforcement), the TeraFlex JL/JLU: Alpha HD Adjustable Spare Tire Mounting Kit w/ 3rd Brake Light Mount & Rearview Camera Mount will secure your full-size spare tire over the most extreme trails and rugged terrain. Note(s):
• The factory tailgate can only support the weight of up to a 35” spare tire and wheel combo w/out reinforcement. A tailgate reinforcement is required to support up to a 39” spare tire and wheel combo. TeraFlex JL/JLU: Alpha HD Tailgate Reinforcement coming soon!
• A spare tire larger than 39” will interfere with the stock rear bumper.

this has to be one of the best looking spare tire mounts out there that relocate the brake light and camera. and its not that bad of a price. now if you guys can just make a rear bumper that isn't ugly and has a license plate mount with a light.

Got my alpha tire carrier a couple weeks ago can’t wait for your reinforcement tail gate to come out. I like how you don’t need a socket or wrench to takeoff your life like all the other competitors just simple cantilever. 👍🏻

Installed yesterday on my 2021 rubicon to carry a 37 on factory wheel. Video was awesome and the install only took a couple hours … the down side was not having a torx#8 … make sure you have one before you start as most sets only go down to 10 or 9.

Any new updates on this Mount with a license relocation ? I want this Mount but the license plate is my only issue since I have a aftermarket bumper that doesn’t allow for the license plate to be relocated. 😞 Please Teraflex 🙏🏽🙏🏽 make a bracket for this.

I love this tire carrier for sure. I only wish you could utilize the stock 3rd brake light mount, or you made an option to mount it above and behind the tire. Some states require the 3rd brake light to be a certain height above the outer brake lights, so I can't use this without being hassled by the local law enforcement. I know people that have tried and had to take it off to pass inspection after a fix-it ticket.

Just installed on the JLUR 4XE - You will need to fabricate a small plate with 3 holes, fasten it to the back of the camera so you can mount it.

I see the rubber bumper remain here, but in the video with the tailgate reinforcement they are deleted. Aren't they required for secure mount?

We have always been a company that chooses quality over speed. Rest assured when we release our version it will have the R&D, testing, and time put into it to make it one of the best.

TeraFlexSuspensions Still waiting. I have another hinge reinforcement on right now and will replace it with a Teraflex when it comes out. I’m absolutely not happy with the one I have on and want to be one of the first to order yours.

If your wheel thickness is thick you will barely get then third brake light on, mine is hanging by a thread. Overall I like it. Just installed it today so we will see how the brake light holds on.

Im getting Black Rhino Warlord wheels with an offset of -12, with 35”. Will your mounting kit be able to adjust for this? I still have the OEM plastic bumper. Thanks.

Can this be used alone without the Mopar tailgate reinforcement kit, if I’m only carrying 17 wheels and 35 tires? I have the Mopar kit, but everyone I go over a bump on the road my tailgate rattles a bit. Looking to see if I remove and go with just your kit for the tire. Any advice would be great. TIA

Yes, you can use this alone, or with a Mopar reinforcement plate. If not using a reinforcement plate, we only recommend adding a tire with the max weight of 100 lbs.

Teraflex: Great looking mount! I tightened the stud to 150 ft-lbs and I can’t get the jam nut off!! I bought two 22mm wrenches. Any tips? Also I think you guys should offer shipping the teraflex with customer’s choice of stud locations. It is way too hard to tighten the studs to the torque spec of 150ft-lbs. I watched the extreme terrain’s video and they didn’t tighten it to torque specs. If I can’t take off the jam nuts, I will try taking it to a local shop and if they can’t take it off, I will have to return to extreme terrain

Sorry to hear about the issues. Hopefully you got the jam nut off. Unfortunately that is the only way to send them out as our production team makes these in bulk to ship all over the world.

I was able to take it off with a breaker bar and after digesting some healthy protein bars! I had actually stripped the thread of the drive nut but luckily on the third stud after tightening!! Taking it off became easier Still love the product and final appearance. Looks great on my JL and I was even able to put on an LED ring of brake lights. I also paired it with a redrock tailgate reinforcement from extreme terrain and live the end result. There is no wobble closing the tailgate now and it’s very smooth and sturdy

Would I be able to raise a 35in tire high enough to clear a bumper that doesn't have the spare tire cut out? It's a flat tube bumper but I still want to run a spare without needing to put it inside the jeep.

You will want to measure and be sure. You can also run at the 37" tire height for added clearance.

Any provision or way to mount a license plate. If you put on an aftermarket bumper it's a must

Yes, this will work just fine with the Mopar hinge reinforcement. You will have to use the spacers that come with that kit but it will function just fine.

25 pounds foot torque busted 2 of the 8 bolts, now I gotta go try and find some that will fit. Also my camera doesn't fit with your finish piece. It sticks out too far. 21 Rubicon 4 door. Got any fix for that so I don't lose my camera?

There was a change in the camera mounting on the newer models, but we have a different piece to fix the fitment issue.

I have a rugged ridge third brake light ring behind the tire of my jeep. Will this carrier accept that third brake light ring?

2020 JLU, my camera isn't attached to the stud ring. Something else holding it in.

Follow up if it happens to someone else- my stud ring came out without the composite housing. It felt like it was glued in, i re-threaded the 2 small set screws and it came loose with a few taps of the hammer.

Same thing happened to mine and I was able to take off the camera housing from the factory tire carrier by hammering in at the same location where I pulled out the two screws of the camera housing
