Agrippa's Diary

Күн бұрын

In this insightful lecture, Terence McKenna discusses Carl Jung's work and its connection to Hermeticism and alchemy. McKenna expresses a deep interest in the Hermetic arts having been influenced by Jung's studies in these fields, but not without addressing some criticism.
McKenna suggests that magic might be essential for addressing modern challenges and the world's redemption, contrasting it with the limitations of science and politics.
McKenna discusses the concept of "coincidencia oppositorum" in alchemy, which challenges scientific thinking pointing out its blind spots.
He connects alchemical philosophies with Jung's psychological insights, advocating for a revival of spiritual and esoteric traditions.
This, he proposes, could lead to a deeper, more interconnected understanding of our existence while re-empowering imagination as a pathway to unity and development.

”I think that what we want to do is make our way back to the alchemical garden. That's where our roots are. That's where meaning is. Meaning lies in the confrontation of contradiction-the coincidencia apositorum. That's what we really feel, not these rational schemas that are constantly beating us over the head with the "thou shalt" and "thou should." - Terence McKenna 🗝 Support Agrippa's Diary: patreon.com/agrippasinnersanctum 📘 One-time donations via PayPal: www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=64GVXNWU9FHVY ☕ Donate a Coffee: ko-fi.com/agrippasdiary 🎦 Subscribe to VoxOcculta: www.youtube.com/@voxocculta 📱Follow Agrippa's Diary on Tik Tok: www.tiktok.com/@agrippasdiary 📷Follow Agrippa's Diary on Instagram: instagram.com/agrippasdiary/ 📚Agrippa's Library of Occult Wisdom: www.notion.so/agrippasdiary/Agrippa-s-Occult-Library-7d915b32493a4816a8f51019245594d7?pvs=4 🗏 Link to the transcript: www.patreon.com/posts/terence-mckenna-97231706?Link& This video was made possible thanks to my Patreon supporters: 👇 Masters Of The Mysteries: Frater Incognito, H. or the understanding of the contradiction we cannot know the light without darkness. this world is the darkness...WE are the darkness inside, with the light inside also. our selfishness and self centered-ness is the separation from DIVINE LOVE that requires 'salvation'. you believe you can provide your own salvation from your darkness, but you cannot...that is what God is demonstrating in each of us. only by trying to be our own 'god' can we find the true God. this is the real meaning of the 'tower of babel'...we think we can build our bridge to 'heaven'..."back to the garden"...but we cannot. and we will not. we will find the more we try the farther we get. the bigger they are the harder they fall. "if i have all the knowledge in the world, and can understand every mystery, but have not LOVE, i am but a clanging gong" that's what i hear from this video...a very loud self assured GONG!!

@Chadthefatherbear
@Chadthefatherbear 6 ай бұрын
This is not far off from what Jung was saying about the Philosopher’s Stone, though he would’ve replaced your use of the term “imagination” with the phrase ‘the creation of consciousness’ or the term ‘the Self’. Jung explained how the Philosopher’s Stone represents ‘the Self’; the ‘wholeness’ or ‘oneness’ archetype of the human psyche, which is perpetually attempting to move your psyche’s patterns of behavior toward balanced wholeness as you reconcile the chaos and disorder of opposites within. Jung didn’t use the term ‘the Self’ vaguely; he explained how, just as the stomach is a mechanism for breaking down what enters the body, ‘the Self’ is a mechanism in the psyche - the mechanism responsible for constantly seeking out wholeness, and, ultimately, higher order and truth within yourself and with regard to the outside physical world.

The purpose of the magic is always changing, as the cosmos is always ticking. Terence’s conclusion fits in very well with the fact that we are entering the ascending Kali Yuga, or ascending/redeemed iron(dark) age. Shamanism, and spirit must be used to redeem an ancient natural nobility, a connection to the earth, and a fostering of a new humanity and world order.

It is a AI voice- as stated in the notes of the video, but if this was ever an actual lecture that McKenna gave is unclear. My current guess is that it is compiled from McKenna's writings. My concern is to find out if the text is actually 100% McKenna or not. It is obviously based on his work, but if it is edited by a third party (my guess at this point) it's authenticity is not guaranteed. Actually, there is no way it could be guaranteed, in the world of AI. It might be a "lecture" by a third party using McKenna's ideas as content. A remix, of sorts. I'll be happy to find out.

I thoroughly enjoyed a shorter work of Dame Frances Yates, "The Occult Philosophy in the Elizabethan Age". A third, "The Rosicrucian Enlightenment" looks promising, as well.

Excuse me, what is the source of this lecture, why does the voice repeatedly use words that aren't quite the right words (image instead of imagine), and why do you say the voice is AI generated? Is this or is this not a Terence McKenna talk? Where and when was it given?

Terrence McKenna was amazing. But in one respect he was wrong. 10,000 years ago we were not just cave men with Flint. Gobekli tepi changed that idea. We don't know what we were at best. But we had more advanced understanding than we once thought

I found the knowledge of his thread interesting. The notion that psychedelics preceded Buddhism I would think is disproved by the Theosophical society. Psychedelic's can open your mind and remove some debris but also will illusion the participant over time. Alchemys value is in a symbolic system for the mind that has a tradition of seekers searching for their highest purpose. I am not aware of any great practitioners of the Alchemy Arts in the information age. But I assume a few exist.

@@InspiritedBean The link to the original audio: psychedelicsalon.com/mckenna-alchemy-the-world-today/ The link to the text: www.mysterium.com/tmalchemy1.html Idk why so many people have something against a tool that finally allows us to listen to this information in high quality… If you prefer the old and crappy sound of the lectures it’s fine but don’t accuse me of deceit when all I am trying is to spread this information out…

Too bad he is not alive to continue the conversation, because I would love to ask him, that despite his prosaic and astute analysis, whether it is even theoretically possible to attain the high magical perspective of the ancients via Any language model....I myself Conclude that any and all language models will forever fall short of attaining prime Core experience

I wonder what Terence would think of artificial intelligence giving a lecture on hermeticism with his voice? I think he’d be chuffed at the novelty of it. Is the text his? Was this from an actual McKenna lecture?

It’s literally stated in the first 15 seconds of the video that the voice has been remastered using AI technology. The original lecture(audio/text) that was used to create this lecture is also in the description and in the pinned comment. The degree of superficiality is outrageous. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to bring this content to the light when I receive such comments.

It's interesting that McKenna recommends Francis Yates' book on Giordano Bruno for a primer on alchemy, when that book has not the slightest mention of it. Indeed, Bruno never made any reference to alchemy in his work, as far as I know. But the link is that Hermetic thought grounds both the Alchemical work and Bruno's theological polemics. Hermeticism has supposed links to Thoth, and Alchemy suggests the ancient land of Kemet. And yet, the prevailing scholarship, which McKenna cites, only dates these schools of thought to 1st-3rd CE. Such a conundrum!
