I was a conductor for a railroad and this game makes me remember all the “fun” times... this game should be 2 player so that the actual conductor is the one flipping the switches and coupling and uncoupling the railcars!
@silicon2125 жыл бұрын
That would be amazing ... have random problems with coupling ... 'bald joint, give it a stretch' ...
@fliernate32905 жыл бұрын
silicon212 I completely agree! Or “give me a stretch, the pin didn’t fall” Of even better, have the conductor be able to ride railcars when the engineer is shoving back or have the conductor dismount the train once it is going slow enough... Now that would make this game AWESOME!!

For braking, you usually use the automatic break. Automatic is when you have cars with you and when you're trying to stop or slow for a speed limit change. Independent brake is for when it is just you're loco(s). Dynamic brake is used for controling speed on hills and is not meant to slow your train fast. Hope that helps :) PS: Try the Tees Valley Line or Northern Trans Pennine routes.

@traffictraffic5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff, I don't know if you'll see this but with the freight trains, if the brake valve is in the freight setting, which it should be, once you apply the automatic brakes to whatever amount you want, reducing it won't actually reduce the amount of brakes applied, you have to go to release position first then reapply to the lower setting you wanted. That's why you keep coming to a stop even when you think you're reducing the amount of brakes.

This is an insanely accurate representation of oak point yard and the hunts point terminal market. It would've been better if you were switching reefers and flour hoppers and using an old Conrail caboose as a shoving platform, but still great none the less.

BTW: two short blasts of the horn means “going forward” (generally w/respect to the lead unit). Three short blasts beans “going in reverse”, or towards the trailing unit(s) or other rail cars coupled to the trailing unit(s). In the case of just some locomotives coupled together, directionality loses meaning; two toots on the horn should suffice. 😊
@moon47mars4 жыл бұрын
This game looks awesome! Great work! Although you accidentally bagged that switch at 4:25 😂
@RossJohnsonVIA13 жыл бұрын
You can use external camera 8 to fly over to the switches to throw them over without ever leaving your cab. The independent brake to useful if you only are operating locomotive(s) as it will hold your power in the location you are. The automatic brake/train line brake holds your train cars included.
@lllToxinSFMlll Жыл бұрын
fun fact, almost all trains are required to have their lights on at all times. the blinking of the front lights when using your horn is for a reason. its specifically for crossing at roads and junctions

hey jeff. little tip on railroading the engineer isn't the one getting out to change switches. the other person in the cab next to you the "conductor" is the one on the ground changing switches while radio talking to you the "engineer" at the head end of the train what to do. the conductor also is responseable for the trains paper work and responseable for fixing the train if a air line brakes or a knuckle couple on a rail car brakes. and the knuckle weighs 85lbs. and can you get a DLC for Norfolk Southern Trains.

Dynamic braking won't be of much good below about 15-20mph, and even the enhanced / extended dyb are useless below 5mph. To slow a train down like you were, without 'plugging' it, just use a service application of the train line brakes, and be ready to 'bail' the independents, so you don't flat spot the wheels on the locomotive. DYB enhances slowing down in descending grade territory. Again, it becomes useless at a speed below where the traction motors will not effectively generate enough current to impede the motion of the train.

If you go into the pause menu and look at the controls there should be a button you can use to cycle through all 3 brakes, and it doesn't use what brake you last used, every time you get into the seat it auto cycles through one brake to the next one.

Jeff for the horn its two sort blasts for going forward and three short blasts if your going backward. And you should also do stuff with the LIRR M7 trains. And to change the different brakes i belive if your on xbox controller than hit “x” button and that changes it i think.

Great video Jeff. I really like the attention to detail they used in the graphics of this game. But like you said at one point the scenery is all the same of course because your going back and forth to the same locations. Personally I would like to see a longer trip so you could really open up the speed and we could see some more of scenery in the game since the graphics are so we'll done.

Great video brother. I'd just like to point out that the markers are where they want you to stop the engine at. If you notice when you were backing up... and stopped the cars on the marker it still shows you have quite a bit of distance to travel... because it's looking for the engine to park there

Jeff just a friendly tip when you go to give service on your brakes if you don't need to actually stop the train full service is unnecessary you can get by with using increments in your brake setting to see how much your train is slowing. I know it's just a sim so I'm just trying to help. Running a train is like an art form sort of. You gotta "feel" what your train is doing which I know is harder in a sim lol.
