It is a great job, but I think the "artificial" problem is in how the animatronic moves, not in how it looks, if it could recreate something separate from the original movement, perhaps it would be better, only in some scenes, for example when it has the towel in his hand and he removes it from his face, and then when he looks in the mirror, those scenes look "false" due to the forced movement of the animatronic, I think he could use deepfake on his face, and he would achieve a more natural arnold effect young.

It kind of works because you know it's a robot and it doesn't have to move or act like a human when it's alone. But also yeah uncanny valley movement

@DJDDstrich4 жыл бұрын
Really good effort! As others have said - The eye is the key flaw in an otherwise well done remaster. The eye size could be a tiny bit bigger, but I think the main issue is actually the material. It is far too white and you could have relied more on the shadows of the scene to mask it further. Similarly to the overly chrome terminator in the computer chip factory scene - I think your main area of improvement is the materials area. Reduce reflectivity and rely more on ambient diffuse lighting to help fit it into the scene.

I know how painstaking this must’ve been - I’m honestly blown away by how much I didn’t realise you had done on first viewing. Thecompositing & match moving is top notch. As other people have said, you were hampered by how the animatronic moved & the skin texture of the original model - & the uncanny valley being such a spectacularly high & unattainable bar, this was always gonna be a heartbreakingly tough assignment - even for ILM or Weta. And given that these days it would be a thousand times easier for Arnie to wear a few dots in his actual face & paint the digital eye in than the way around you have had to fix it, I think you’ve done a stellar job. Naysayers in the comments honestly have NO clue how impossibly hard this was to even attempt. Amazing effort dude. 🫡

This is actually really impressive, and it does look greatly improved over the original. My only suggestion would be that the eye looks a little too... "vibrant," I guess would be the word. Creepy!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤ Did you know? The terminator looks much more sinister in your new version because the tissue of his skin and his eye look "inert" as if looking towards nothing when he wipes himself with the towel, giving a sensation that under that living skin there is something not human and even demonic. Exactly one of the factors that terrified me as a child about this movie is that the terminator was basically like the corpse of a person with a killer robot hidden inside, and your work enhanced this very terrifying ingredient. I loved.

Although in the original, I have to say that. How 'fake' or unnatural the animatronic looked when he's removing his eyeball actually speaks so loudly to the audience that it's like more disturbing. All I know is as a kid that scene weirded me out because it was so unnatural and unusual looking that even though I told myself "it's a doll, it's fake" in my mind it was like "it looks that way because the robot inside him is unreal and not human.

you know for me it's not just the close up of the puppet that is what ages the effect but the unnatural movement. If you were able to give it more natural movement I would really enjoy the update of the effect. The specular highlights are better for the puppet but you got more accuracy of the face in your version. But I understand that you were limited and not just trying to recreate the entire shot and this is why the movements needed to match the original.
