I've heard tell that this interpretation of the phrase "the carrot and the stick" is probably incorrect, in that the phrase was supposedly intended to imply reward and punishment, but the phrase was actually describing the scene where one dangles a carrot in front of a draft animal's nose in order to encourage it to move ahead... and the carrot is dangled on a string tied to... a stick. So "the carrot and the stick" refers exclusively to encouragement by reward.

One of the things I love about this channel. It's subscribers. I've been listening to Creepypastas for years. I have a few favorite channels. The readings are excellent, and the narrators regularly thank the authors. But their subscribers don't. As if the narrator alone made up the stories. Ignoring the writers and not giving them credit. I have discussed this with many of them in the past, and they all pretty much say the same thing. The writer would be nothing without the narrator. That's when I tell them. There would be no narrator channel, without the writers. At that point they just start insulting me. I like the fact, that the subscribers of this channel, regularly also thank the writers for their wonderful stories.
