Indeed, it's a beautiful hawk. I'm not surprised to see him near the coop. Usually, by the time my chickens alert of the hawk, he's already got one in his talons. I dont begrudge him a meal after all its what they do to survive. Just wish they wouldn't take my favorites. They do not understand boundaries, yards or even hey that's my bird. In their eyes it's their world and we are living in it.

You have a good attitude about it and, I'm sure, you don't blame the hawk for being, well, a hawk. But, I'm with you on the one point. How do the ALWAYS know to grab your favorite? It never seems to fail, right? Don't go after the old biddy with the nasty habit of trying to peck you to death, EVERY time you enter to coop. Nope! They take the one you raised from a hatchling, that follows you around like a puppy, and likes to sit in your lap for pets. It's like they have a sign around their neck, "Take Me!"

@@SilverAuntie Thank you! It took me a little bit to learn this lesson, and a few birds lost, but as the flock leader it's my duty to keep them safe. I swear I would put them out the juiciest salmon if they just left my birds alone😂🤔

Does it take two hands to squeeze that grabbing device? Or maybe he should have gotten down on his hands and knees and squeezed into that tight space and grabbed it with his bare hands…and get his hands, arms and probably face mauled with its sharp beak and talons?? And most people have their cell phones in their pocket, not like he had to do much, but I’m sure he had to go get the grabbing device. He could have stood there and videoed the chickens maul it to death, or he could have simply killed it so it would never bother his chickens again. No, what he did is diligently and calmly keep working to get the hawk out so it could fly away and live. Some people have no common sense, and I’m not referring to the man who saved the hawk!
