Even months after that crash it still shocks me. Truly a miracle no one came injured in that accident. Vinales and Rossi are both extremely lucky and I'm so thankful that nothing worse happened. This and the Grosjean crash this year, saw both live, both time thought I was seeing someone being killed, while the F1 crash shows the amazing improvements in safety, this one is just sheer luck that everyone was fine after that

Viñales was even closer. Look at the pictures of the crash. Zarco's bike must have touched his helmet, or being, at most, 10 cm clear of hitting him. His hands were off the handlebars for a moment, because he was protecting his head. Rossi is a lucky man too. He escaped Franco's bike by about 50 cm. I never saw Rossi looking afraid like that, even when he was involved in Simoncelli's crash. It's really scary to think that a bike at 280kph could hit you right in the head.

Same. Rossi looked 10 years older when he took his helmet off He's been in near similar situations many times but yesterday I got the feeling that his mortality hit him really hard. It’s unbelievable that they went on after that, I love motogp, but this gave me flashbacks of watching senna die in imola, a corner like that needs to be solved and not keep at it unless Rossi had died... this is disrespectful to the riders life and to the sport itself. Just think, what if Rossi pressed the throttle a little more, even just a few milliseconds? That bike came flying like an axe!! Motor racing has its risks! Vale went a little long on the corner, and that saved him. Maverick was perfectly in line and that saved him. Unbelievable how everything could have been so bad, and it turned out to be just a sweaty and scary situation. Redbull ring was not made for motogp race. And this clearly shows that. There are plenty of moto race tracks. Donington, welkom... What else to say. Sic was there for all 4 riders.

@@drapsin89 u can either agree or disagree. That's not a problem. The point is that Redbull ring is dangerous. Whether for what happened yesterday or for the fact that at the end of corner 3 and 4 there is not enough space to let the moto slow down in case of a crash. Rember what happened for the same reason in Catalunya to Luis Salom in 2016. MotoGP tracks should be like Mugello, Donington, Argentina... 0 stop and go corner followed by HUUUGE STRAIGHT, open spaces and more secure. And I am not talking about the wet tarmac of red bull ring. Which is like soap for motorbikes. Anyway, let's hope for the best next week.

Watching Rossi's reaction when he got back to the pits gave me chills, he looked 10 years older when he took his helmet off. He's been in near similar situations many times but yesterday I got the feeling that his mortality hit him really hard. I think it says a lot about him as a human being that he dropped out of 'racer' mode instantly and let it get to him and says even more about his courage as a rider that he was back on track pushing as hard as ever just minutes later. I hope a lot of the people who put him down noticed and will have a lot more respect for him as a human and as a racer. In stark contrast, Pol Espargaro probably wishes that he'd looked a lot more like a human being and a lot less like a pi$$ed off racer when he got back to his pit. To be fair, he hadn't seen the accident and had no idea what a close call it had been, but, regardless . . . Watching this incident live reminded me of a realisation I had a long time ago after a very high speed crash on (off) a TZ350: Speed is real exciting when you're in control but, when things get out of hand, it's f'ing violent. No idea how many guys in strange leather shorts there were in Austria yesterday but, fortunately, they got hugely outnumbered by a swarm of guardian angels flying around that racetrack and we needed every one of them. Like everyone else, I'm really thankful that no one got badly hurt yesterday.

This.. when I rewatch this crash now and again obviously the worst part is how close those bikes got to killing Rossi and Vinales- but Zarco & Morbido are lucky to escape fairly unharmed in the grand scheme. I find it crazy how far both of them rolled up an incline which shows how fast this crash was. Zarco ended up on the apex of T2 where he could've easily been ran over- luckily all riders were going slow enough.
