I think that there are a few versions of this story. In the first version that I heard, her parents kept her locked in her room and she got angry watching the children play from her window. She made the mask and killed the children, but even now she still kills children by giving out poisoned sweets and venomous spiders. Also, if you meet her, she is supposed to reach out her hand to shake yours. If you shake her hand without showing that you are scared, she will let you walk away unharmed. But, if you run away, she will hunt you down and kill you.

Another urban legend, what is in the Philippines it was about Maria labo she was a woman that had a son and daughter she came home from work one day and acted aggressive to her children. My elementary pe coach told many stories, but this one is one of the creepiest: Our school used to teach very small people the size of toddlers, but they were our age. One time, two boys bullied one of these girls by throwing her in the air and catching her like a ball. However, they threw her too high and her dress got caught on a rafter in the gym. She stayed there and died, her body rotting and turning to dust, but her dress staying. He tells the Doctor that there are hundreds of masked people in the hospital. Dr Constantine invites the Doctor to examine them, warning him not to touch their flesh. The Doctor finds that, impossibly, all of them have the exact same injuries to the skull and chest cavity. The gas masks are also seemingly fused to their flesh, although there are no burns or scarring. They also have lightning-shaped scars on the backs of their hands; Constantine has the same scar, but the Doctor does not notice.

This reminded me of a book I read, it was a series called Shadow House, it has three books, I don't remember much, but I remember this part of the books very vividly. It described children who were once residents of the house turned orphanage, referred to as "The Specials". It was a group of about 5 children who were chosen and labelled as special by the man who ran the orphanage. The five children had to wear masks, a bear, a cat, a dog, a rabbit, and a fifth one I can't really remember too well (one of the main character's late twin brother also wears a mask, a clown, but he is not technically a Special). Day in and day out, these children wore these masks, and were told they'd be in big trouble if they took them off. One day, one of the kids decides to take it off, sick of the mask, but as they try to pull it off, they realise that it isn't a mask anymore, it has BECOME their face. After a while, they started to lose their humanity, becoming more and more like rabid versions of the animal mask they had. During the course of that book, one by one, the main characters free the specials, by giving them back things that were taken away from them, releasing their souls, and "breaking the masks" (returning their humanity, which up until this point, was only shown in snippets as the children would occasionally cry for help from the main characters, to save them from the demon that possessed the property.) Totally recommend these books, they're terrifying, but a good read.
