Over here in the U.K. there are danger signs 10 meters away, £60 trespassing fines, a tax to exist within 20 meters of the canal and if you make contact with sand you will get 8-10 in max security. Although it is fine to stab people aslong as it’s central London

when i was young on a family trip my brother and me were playing in the sand. we built a little channel from a big lake that was like 30 meters away from the sea...2 hours later it was a river like this...my parents were ashamed and fled with us..i can remember that very well :D
@jarredweatherhead66015 жыл бұрын
Ohh well my brother and i blocked off a river leading an ocean it was about 3 metres wide. We blocked it of ot started to back flow and cause massive sink holes in the sand we were right in the shit. Still doesnt flow 2 years later just sits their and is stagnant and smells like shit because its fresh water from the farms with waste in it.

In the USA this would never be allowed. It would required that everyone stand 1.4 miles away in case someones feet got wet. We would even make sure no kids under 10 could witness this cause it could cause shock due to the quick running water.

So for those saying it will hurt the environment, as it says in the video, It is not only to protect the local houses from being flooded if we get one of the rain storms we have been having, but by draining it and re opening to tidal flow it get s the water moving again and preventing a black water event as is commonly seen when these sandbars build at the front of creeks during summer.
@JakeTommoTW7 жыл бұрын
also of note there were life savers and jet skis on standby for if anyone got in trouble. as well as the fact that these dams/ events are usually cause by king tides depositing large amounts of sand accross the river mouth.

When i was a kid, Terrigal lake was let out by a bloke with a shovel who dug a channel a foot wide from the lake and down the beach slope, the water trickled out at first down the narrow channel..But by morning it was a raging torrent and a third of the lake was gone!..Seems times have changed!

This is DEFINITELY SURFING!!! *pulls boogie board out*
@P0GboyFlixzYOU7 жыл бұрын
this is a natural ebb and flow of river and ocean, if they left it alone for another month the river would break through anyway and then after that the waves would build the sand back up. the reason they dug it out was just to protect nearby houses from flooding it didn't damage the environment;all rivers lead to the ocean anyways.

We used to have our yearly holiday at Terrigal when I was around 10 till 15 and I was there one time when after weeks of rain they opened the lagoon to let the built up water drain. Gues what powerful and high tech machinery they used then, one man with a shovel and about 5 minutes work. Admittedly the water level was much higher that time and all he did was scrape a small trench across towards the ocean about where they wanted it to run. With the huge amount of water built up it was amazing to watch how fast it went from a trickle to a 20 foot wide raging torrent. In the end the big waves that were still coming in thanks to offshore storms were trying to push their way against the slowing current back up into the lagoon. I could catch a wave and be racing through the water and yet be barely moving in thanks to the outgoing current. Great fun and great memories :-)
