As for the reason that Jews have been persecuted? Why has anyone in various groups ever been persecuted? Humans can be hateful without purpose. Let’s take world war 2 for example. The Nazi party not only singled out Jews during the holocaust, but anyone that they saw as unfit to exist in their ideal world. This included people of colour, homosexuals, and disabled people amongst others. The Jewish population was singled out more viciously due to Hitler feeling that they had caused the downfall of Germany during the First World War.
