Here’s the thing. If you haven’t watched any wrestling since the attitude era, which was in the 90’s, then you don’t get to have an opinion on modern wrestling. That’s not hate it’s just a rule of the world, if you don’t participate your view points on the subject at hand don’t mean anything

I think we can all agree that character and mic work back then blew today's out of the water but to say in ring skills were better then is debatable. Personally I think the guys today wrestle faster pace and have more unique styles, wrestling then was just too slow for me besides a few exceptions like the hardys. Guys today like Seth, Gunther, Sami, Ko, Santos, Ricochet, are just better (in ring)!! There are even a few modern guys who can do both like Grayson, Ilja, Roman, Trick, and more. I think the clips online don't do justice to just how talented some modern wrestlers are

Nah this is some causal ass takes. The in ring talent nowadays blows the fuck out of the attitude and ruthless aggression era. Apart from guys like Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Rey Mysterio. The modern talent in WWE such as Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Becky Lynch, Balor, Kevin Owens, Rhea Ripley, they would wrestle circles around the majority of the talent in the past. There was a lot of awful shit back in the day, and apart from the icon characters of Stone Cold and the Rock, the new era of WWE is so far and away superior. It’s not even close. I’ve grown up watching the old wrestling, and it’s so much better nowadays. The people that say otherwise have nostalgia glasses super glued to their eyes.

Hanby did say he doesn't watch modern wrestling and mistook Orton to he an Attitude guy, you can take that for what you will, but to me it seems like a bunch of entitlement from Hanby, which is fair---I respect his right to be wrong. I can see the appeal of the Attitude era since, let's face it, Austin and Rock were the peaks. But... seeing all those injuries sustained, the culture that contributed to Chyna's death, the chem reliant big guys, the CTEs, the bumps that shortened careers (poor Droz), the Royal rumble where the Rock performed amature brain surgery on Mick, all the times Mick threw twisted his body for the fans, fricking Undertaker's cult... I just don't know, man. Attitude Era was fun, but in retrospect, damn. Damn, damn, damn. Attitude Era was weird, and I guess that's why Hanby likes wrestling like that. At least modern wrestling is safer, healtier, and is heading towards better pastures with how papa H is operating things. Whip fast wresting is my thing, and nowadays I can get my fix xD I don't know. Hanby is getting senile in his old age, guess that's why Miz and him are alike in ways, like whine!

It's fine to tell it how it is. LA Knight is nothing special in the ring. Truth be told, neither was Stone Cold. You don't need to have anything more than 5 moves of doom to get over, especially when your gimmick is purpose-built to cater to contrarian double-marks who are too cool and edgy to cheer for a proper babyface. Why do you think the people who willfully kept watching WWE in the 2014-2021 nadir never stopped chanting for CM Punk? Punk was never anything groundbreaking in the ring, either. You know what he was? He was a Rage Against the Machine album with yellow stars instead of red ones. Knight is good on the mic, but let's not pretend he's anything more than what he is, which is a guy using a well-worn schtick with a sheen Grand Theft Auto coat of paint.

You'd know that if you actually actively paid attention to the scene, but it's clear by your inputs that you don't. LA Knight is so good in the ring, clearly he ain't stone cold level just yet, but to say he's not good is a severe understatement. Also, saying none of the current wrestlers can wrestle is hella wrong. Sami Zayn, ricochet, even Logan Paul have excelled tremendously in the ring, and that's just a few. respectfully disagree with all takes besides the tony khan one. there are so many great and talented wrestlers in this era. Cody rhodes, gunther, cm punk, logan paul, seth rollins, roman reigns, sami zayn, the usos, and sheesh even dominik mysterio is getting up there in terms of skill and personality. WWE is at its peak right now in terms of popularity for a reason. i started watching wwe in 2012 so i didnt get to witness the Attitude era but looking back i can see why its loved. and im hoping when wwe goes to netflix we can bring that back with the new gen wrestlers

His LA Knight opinion is awful considering how many people have liked Knight since his time as Eli Drake in TNA and 2019/2020 NWA. Brian undoubtedly missed the amazing time in the last half of the 2010s when NJPW, ROH, and the indies were at their peak.

One thing I will say is this Brian. Wrestling overall has improved, as someone who is actively watching the product I can say this. Main reasoning is the fact that now certain people who were killing the product WWE have been removed, and the story telling when it comes to stuff like the Bloodline story has helped to elevate the company and has been one of if not the best story in pro-wrestling ever. Also matches are more about the stories and the actual talent. Nearly today is better in ring wise than they were in the Attitude Era. Also saying LA Knight isn't good in right and KO is bad on the mic is so damn insulting I'll be fr. A lot of these takes really do sound like blindness via nostalgia for the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Era.

I'm glad you said Sheamus. Dude is seriously underappreciated and definitely one of the greats of this era. Honestly, it's hard to craft a character that actually stands out from the rest, cause not only have so many ideas been thought up already, but you're also limited to what you can say still, and for a good reason, it isn't a bad one. Even under Triple H, some stuff still can't be said, but you can spin your ideas however you want under that limitation unlike with Vince where you have to follow each and every piece of dialogue.

He wants to talk cartoony outfits but then loves the attitude era, as if some of the best attitude era wrestlers didn't have some of the oddest choices of wrestling gear at times. And besides anyways, critiques are very fair but to say wrestling sucks right now is crazy. It's not a Golden Age, not by a long shot, but it's also not like it's 1993 and wrestling sucks balls all over the place.

As someone who got back into wrestling after like 10-15yrs it never hits the same as it when you were a kid but its still dope and with HHH in charge of creative its going from strength to strength. I grew up a TNA kid so AJ styles is my favourite. I dont have a huge nostalgia for WWE cos i couldnt watch it back then. I've gone back and watched alot of the AA and it good at best. Wrestling always feels better when your a kid tbh

WOW these takes were awful and uninformed. Major “back in my day” old man who refuses to watch modern things vibes. And maybe if we were talking 5-6 years ago I’d agree with some of these but since the pandemic and the invention of AEW, and especially since Vince’s downfall, the product has been the best it’s been in my lifetime. The matches are better, the stories are engaging, and the shows are only getting better. People have NO excuse to not watch and then complain how bad it is, when that’s simply not the truth. And again, I’ve been a fan of wrestling through some dark days, but wrestling is cool again, and that makes me really happy.
