Earls music really carried me through the mental anguish of being a teenager… this song brings back memories of times I’m glad I pushed through. Thank you Thebe.

This is my first time in a long time listening to his music again. This time I’m in a better head space 😊

This song makes me feel at peace with the fact that times get really rough and that you can only do so much and at a certain point you just gotta take your demons head on and keep it going. That’s what life is really about just going on and pushing through and living for those happy moments that you never forget and help mold the story of your life. Keep it pushing and accept the absurdity of this universe in a world where we try to keep our lives as organized as we can while we exist in such a chaotic place.

LYRICAL BREAKDOWN: "moses with a make shift staff sending ripples through ya, and in the land (and)bend the river been the plan but, when I go to grab it, it slither out my hand" this scheme is in reference to the biblical tale where Moses is challenged by the pharaoh who wont let his people (moses) leave Egypt. In the tale, pharaoh summons his best black magicians who turn their staffs into snakes with black magic, but they are quickly defeated when Moses throws down his staff and it turns into a giant snake that swallows up all of their smaller snakes. This reference could be interpreted as earl saying that while his plan is to split the river and set us (his fans or whoever he considers his people/ the water being our minds) free, his staff (his mic, or a reference to the music industry/ people around him) become snakes and wont allow him to. Thus leading into the next bar: "so on the other hand I been handling business (taking back control of his music and what he wants to do with it) momma told me man up, so now im Pop-eye(both a reference to the sailor man cartoon and having crazy eyes) with the anchor (saying he's holding us/himself secure to land) tatts and the spinach, finna spazz on a nigga if I have to". Many people didn't seem to understand the reference in this verse so here ya go edit: this is just one interpretation, chill lmao.

Just came back from Hawaii and I think this song will be the closest thing I get to feeling that again

The intro might be the best part. It just sounds so depressing and it sounds like a person that is constantly feeling the Intro is in pain. Earl is rap’s The Caretaker

Pretty sure it's not an Alchemist beat. The beat is the same as 'Children of the atom' by Captain Murphy which is produced by Flylo and Madlib. Alchemist may have slowed it down slightly but more or less sounds the same

this song came out as i was starting to grow up, realize things in the world. I thank this song for many good memories, either listening to this with my friends or by myself at night, i am so glad this came out at that time. I am forever grateful

Earl needs to make his songs longer! It's not a coincidence that his best song is 10:00 long

May currently be absolutely wired, however the point remains the same. Really is a 10/10 song. The alchemist X earl album was great but so hard to beat a song like this. Could be a perfect tune. 7 years and gets better with every listen.
