He was so beautiful. His voice was beautiful, his face, his personality. Everything about him just shone. And he had this aura of gentleness. I think this performance shows off all of that perfectly. What a loss to all of us. Gorgeous, gorgeous Terry.

Very sad :( Terry used to walk past us kids on his way for a drink in The Rocket in Coventry. He sometimes said something that made us laugh, and he always smiled. I was a little too young to be in awe of him, but old enough to appreciate who he was to my hometown. For that and his music he will live very long in my memory

So it’s 1979. I bought the first Specials album from my Grandmother’s high street in Barnet. I was 11 years old and it was the only long player I’d bought with my own (birthday) money. I played the shit out of it! The first band I truly loved. When BOWIE died I was sad. Now I’m really upset to the point of tears. I guess it’s a selfish reminder in some ways that I’m getting old. As one gets older heroes become less significant or important. After all they’re just people. For me, Terry Hall was a HERO and one of the few great front men with a unique voice and presence. And at times some of the best lyrics ever written. I want to play the music but can’t quite face it. I dunno. Maybe in a month or so. X

What a supertalented unassuming guy he was. No superspandex clothes or outrageous haircuts, it was all about the music. Great guy will be missed hugely. Also. often seen on the terraces with all the other football fans through the 90's. God bless you Terry, sure went too soon.

RIP the brilliant Terry Hall…Legend. One of the UK’s greatest ever singer songwriters, and so influential when I was growing up in the West Midlands in the late 70’s, early 80’s. A true genius.

I liked this song at the time but listening again tonight it's absolutely one of THE best songs from the 90s. Always had a bit of a crush on Terry and it's incomprehensible that this lovely man, whose face and music was there all throughout my childhood, is gone. 💔

Aaaah...this song was played more often on our local radio than the original version by the lightening seeds! I never knew, who sang it, until now. Greatest version of the song. Love it deeply. RIP Terry Hall. So sad to hear about the loss of this brilliant and gifted musician. A truly deep soul.

I remember when I was living over in Germany this song was always being blared everywhere in the pubs and clubs over there (the Lightning Seeds version). Great tune, great version.
