This car has MARS custom SKIN because on indian roads a very non lethal baby speed breaker will launch this car into space .

Good to see them in India but honestly some buttons are necessary like head lights specially , can't be looking at the screen while driving , moreover I hope there is voice command for better use of ac and stuff

Tesla is so smart that it makes you go through menus and sub-menus to do simple things like changing the air-vents flow, open glove box, wiper controls, adjust ORVMs etc.

Without charging infrastructure, with that huge glass roof and low ground clearance, I don't see this getting anywhere. Romantic mode on the dashboard with log music? Might work in America and Europe but not sure who is looking for fire wood or hot air in India, as if majority of the country is often filled with 2 feet of snow at all times or like the average temperature is 18° and humidity is 35.

Exactly , The whole major hype for tesla has always been for it's features and gimmicks, like auto pilot, auto pilot is useless in roads like India and with horrible traffic it's even worse, auto pilot won't be able to figure it out, the only thing you can probably can come close to experiencing it is probably only on national highways , But you can hardly go far enough to charge it up and we don't even have charging stations lol ]

Thanks for the nice review. I feel the lack of ground clearance and comfort of sitting in the back seat are going to be deal breakers. I think if Model X or Model Y are considered, they don’t have these drawbacks.

So glad to see that Autocar has genuinely pointed out flaws in Tesla unlike other videos I see. The panel gaps, plastic quality and lack of buttons is a bummer especially when Tesla is in no mood to localise production at all. The whole touch screen gimmick fades away after a week or two and then we really need important switches like AC, music system to be handy. I don't understand why Tesla is so rigid about not bringing production in India. It's sad to see their fixed mindset about not coming here unless they find a charger at every turn. In India it's not gonna happen so soon or ever. Tata is actually doing a good job by jumping into the EV craze as it may have the first mover advantage after few years when it offers better products

Or else... Buy an executive petrol/diesel sedan with good ground clearance and rear seat comfort :- ₹20 lakh Buy an iPad/gaming laptop & a high quality music system.. ambient lights ..etc etc and assemble that into the car :- ₹10 lakh Put the rest ₹30 lakhs as fixed deposit ....and pay for fuel using the interest. Problem Sorted !

But compare to other car in same price segment, Tesla seems more efficient and environmental friendly. 400 km is great range. Most of us definitely need 20 to 30 min break after driving 400 km .

So many comments here don't understand, as model 3 owner with 30,000 miles on my car I'll tell you this, you don't need all the buttons. Headlights: they are automatic, the car knows if it is dark outside. Even the high beam is automatic, goes low beam when there are other cars, high beam when there is complete darkness. Wipers, again are automatic (plus there is a manual shortcut for them on the stalk) Infotainment is super simple, like using a super simple and well designed iPad Mirror settings: Tesla has driver profiles and once you set your seat position and mirror position it remembers those Speedometer, it's easy to see and always clearly visible. Open you mind, and you'll see other cars don't make sense. Tesla's do not even have a start button. Once setup the car unlocks with your phone and locks when you walk away.

If ground clearance is the issue just launch the model Y for the time being, I have seen 3 Tesla model 3's while they were testing in camo together, the ground clearance did seem low

Need to raise the car by another 2 inches, minimum. BTW, if the Datejust on Sorabjee is the equivalent of a Merc, a Tesla has to be a Urwerk or Richard Mille. The car, reimagined. Nothing short of inventing the wheel anew.

Why don't they give a single motor version in India provided it'll be a lot more convenient? It could become a lot more cheaper and the range would increase too, giving the reigning champions (Seltos, Creta in the Indian market) a run for their money.

So basically tesla needs a co driver in india like a co pilot in an aircraft, The driver will focus on driving and the co driver will handle headlights, air-con, music system from the screen, Jokes apart, i saw the auto headlamp option which is obvious, there might be other aids as well.
