This week we have a short sharp video documenting how to change the HEPA filter pre and secondary filters.

Good video to help DIY replacement. It looks like Tesla should have replacement of the pre-filters every two years, instead of the cabin air filters. It also looks like the HEPA filters could go at least 4 years between replacements, instead of the Tesla recommended 3 years.

It is, but you get some fantastic air quality off the back of it. I think this should be standard on every vehicle

Awesome video. My 2020 late mode Y ( October) doesn't have this at all. Just the intake tubing but not that top part with the filters. I hear they put them on late 2021 models & up only but u can put them on afterwards yourself at around 500$ from tesla app

You should have checked the main white gasket underneath the filter assembly when putting it back in.

I had the same problem with the frunk button not working with the light kit on my Model 3. No idea how this works but the vedor told me to cut the earth wire and ground it directly to the chassis, after that the button and light works fine. Assuming these kits are all the same (basically spliced off the frunk buttons power supply) could sort it for you as well.

You compare interior filter change every year or two with a new timing chain? AGR replacement? New DPF? New exhaust? New brakes every 30.000km? Oil change every 10.000km? New Motor every 150K? Ok. 👍

@@wolfgangpreier9160 Most of the things you've mentioned are once in a lifetime, but my main point was that people buy Teslas and think there is zero maintenance when Tesla actually have a maintenance plan.

In the US, as a minimum it's advisable to have oil change annually, brake fluid change every 2 years, coolant and transmission fluid change every 4 or 5 years, and engine air filter change 20,000 miles or so. Definitely not once a lifetime.

WHAT YEAR MODEL Y is this one ? My Tesla Y is a late 2020 version & it's missing this HEPA part completely. I bought it used. I wonder if it never had it

Why does the filter housing need to be removed? Can’t the housing be accessed without? 🤔

Just to clean it out and check for any debris in the air intake. Also, when we are doing servicing and repairs we need to get underneath it so it makes sense for us.

Yes, i thought the same. Just for changing the filter it would be accessible from above. When you want to clean everything it’s easier to remove the frunk. I would have cleaned everything under the frunk. Its still all very dirty down there.

Yours only has the interior cabin filters, no HEPA i'm afraid.

28 ioniq have tiny tissue size paper filter behind glove box. I haven't changed that for last 60 tkm 😂

The enyaq doesn't have a HEPA, it has a carbon cartridge. The difference being that the air in the cab is clinical grade, no smells and and no pollution on the Tesla, the Enyaq unfortunately doesn't do this.

Aha! Well I'm still happy that changing whatever filter it is doesn't need all this. Not sure how Air Care mode works on the yaq but it seems to filter out all the smells
