We have tested Tesla's Full Self Driving (FSD) against a particular double lane roundabout many times, and until FSD v12.3.6, it was successful only occasionally. We tried the newest version of FSD to see how it performed in multiple scenarios and included drone footage to clearly show how it handled in the roundabout. This roundabout has been a nemesis to FSD as it has tried lane changing in the middle of it, navigation has been confused and uncertain which direction to go, and one time it actually came to a complete stop in the middle of the roundabout despite there being no traffic interfering with its navigation. It is a double lane roundabout that requires you to be in the inside lane in some scenarios to travel around the roundabout. Three quarters of the circle is double lane, and one portion is single lane. There are multiple exits that you can take from the outside lane, and in multiple locations you can exit from the inside lane. In all honesty, we see a lot of human drivers get confused in the roundabout, especially at the point where it goes from 2 lane to 1 lane. To see Full Self Driving understand how to navigate it, is pretty amazing and will be helpful in avoiding accidents in the future. On top of the confusing traffic patterns, there are also golf cart and bicycle paths crossing the exits of the roundabout. At the end of the video, we give an update on what the car does well and where it can still improve. Since there is drone and first person video, you will be able to see from different vantage points just how well the car handles in the different scenarios.
