Youre like the customer service for aucar usa division lol, i read through all comments and pretty much got the answers i need, i’ll definitely wait for mark6 hopefully they figured out how to use factory gps antenna and screen responsiveness like iphone. An excellent overview of the AUCar Mark 5. Thanks for your great work on this and the installation Video. Do you know of any features this unit has, that the Pheonix Mark 3 doesn't have or vice-versa?

These are very similar units, capable of running the same software. The biggest differences would be the resolved glitches (airbag light, steering wheel controls, stuff like that), custom hard button, and the easier install (don't need to hack your steering column) on the AUCar

Aaaye welcome to the Q fam Kelli, I had a G37s too! The footwell lighting is just a cheap kit off Amazon: amzn.to/3Bgynth I have them wired to turn on when the doors open. @@SquareWheelsAuto various USB devices software defined radio, maybe seeing if i can get the screen to show a video input source of a Raspberry Pi I'd install at the bottom of the center console. I was thinking of redirecting a little bit of the air ducts going to the rear seats to actively cool the Pi. Although, I probably don't need root for any of that. Love your vids, Just installed my MK5 & looks great. Question? I saw how you split the screen between video player and other apps. Is there a way to split screen for apps other than Videos?. I'd like to drive with maps on top half and my preferred Music player on bottom, but I haven't been able to find that setting. Thanks !

Hey great videos man, gonna sub! Question: Audio, can’t see any comments on this. I’m assuming the MK5 acts only as an audio source and not amplification? My 350z BOSE audio was instantly ripped out but with the BOSE premium in my Q60 the audio is like pretty decent. So I’m conscious to avoid downgrading audio just for the screen. Cheers

Thx for the support Wasso!!! So consider the MK5 a source that you'd plug into your aux port, like a phone or mp3 player. That's exactly how it behaves, it piggybacks the AUX. If you have Bose, all the amplifying and sound processing will still be handled downstream. The MK5 has its own EQ but I leave flat and just let the Bose do it's thing. Hope that helps!!

I’m having trouble getting hotspot to connect to internet required apps. I’m also having trouble getting wired CarPlay to work. Could you possibly make a set up tutorial on how to connect the device to hotspot out of the box and to both wired and wireless CarPlay. Only way I can connect to internet required apps is with home WiFi while I’m in my garage. Please help

Love the tutorial just pre ordered the MK6! I was confused on the hotspot portion, does this mean the screen can’t run apps that require wifi such as spotify, waze etc.. without having the hotspot on? Is there any way around that just needs some clarification thanks and great showcase!

These are full Android devices and thus are most useful when you feed them internet. Without internet, it'll run the apps, but if they have functiinality that requires internet, that functionality won't work (Spotify and Google maps have offline mode, I do t think Waze does). If you don't want to go the hotspot route, the MK6 comes with a sim port so you can give it a dedicated 4g data plan 😈

One question, when I mirror my samsung using the wired connection and I open up youtube the music is playing through my speakers BUT when I open the KZfaq app on the unit itself using via wifi, NO music is played nor sound

Do you know if you have to use the USB extensions out of the back of the unit for Android Auto, or should you be able to use the armrest receptacle after piggybacking that wire harness into the unit? Also, I have an idle message pop up periodically if I have a KZfaq video on, have you experienced this? When using my phone for wifi and running apps from the screen, Spotify will turn off when I open another app rather than play in the background. Any experience/advice appreciated

Thank you for the great videos. I'm probably going to wait a few months for the Mark 6. Have a 2020 Q60 RS with Bose. If I want to keep using the factory amp, is it possible to connect to it with the pre amp outputs? Is it even compatible with the factory Bose system?

Thx for watching Jamil! Yah im looking fwd to the next gen too. Ive got Bose also - I skip the preamps and just send the audio signals thru aux to the Bose processors. Sounds as good as stock. There's also fine tuning in the unit with a (16 band I think?) equalizer.

Hey Rob ! Sorry For the constant comments on videos …. Again I’m really loving the unit and the firmware update. What I think I ran into was the wrong car audio company because I’m finding little faults in their installation and they make it seem like it’s a very complicated and expensive fix. I was messaging Sergey to fix the CarPlay issues but he mentioned I should be good and asked me to update some things on the original Intouch menus but when I hit the button it won’t let me access the menus. Did they not Install a cord/wire correctly? I’ve looked over your videos and I’m not seeing how it won’t run like yours if they are audio pros…. If you need to I can send you a text if this will be more back and forth than expected.

Yep. Check my channel for the installation video. Most people get it done in less than an hour 👍🏾👍🏾 Works well with Android, I use it daily with my Samsung S21 as a hotspot.

Happy Thanksgiving - much thanks & appreciation to you for the time/effort(aka work) you put forth to help us (Infiniti Qommunity) w/all needed info from top to bottom using these Tesla style screens. The question I have for you is, are you familiar with the "Cidava" or "Autotecpro" screens for the Q and if so whats are your thoughts on it? I know it is more expensive than the Mark 5 but from the limited reviews I have read it seems that it is at par with the M5 w Sergey firmware as well as super responsive due to newer software I believe all while supporting 360 cam, Bose, split screen etc. I almost pulled the trigger on the M5 just the other night and now I'm on the fence because of this Cidava unit or whatever they will call it. I'm pretty sure they're all exactly the same hardware AND software, offered and supported by different resellers. With that understanding, you can probably let price and prepurchase and postpurchase support guide your decisions. Happy hunting!!

Hey Rob, hope all is well. Having an issue with my system. Goes into a boot loop about 5 times before fully functional. I can also bypass the long wait by holding down the home button. Tried Phoenix Audio where I bought it with your discount code but they refused to help me. Talk about poor customer service. Any ideas on how I can fix it? I don't see a reset pin hole to soft boot and clear the cache. Thanks!

Thanks! They're actually cheapo LEDs off Amazon (amzn.to/3dIv0BV). I insist on stealthy wiring whenever possible. I wired it to the dome lights, so they turn on when the doors open, or I hit the dome light button. Used this same circuit: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/brhjq711zuDbY30.html

Cool, just be warned: the major benefit of those is their price. 2 complaints I've got with them: 1) They are RGB so the white isn't 'pure' - looks more like orange to me 2) it sometimes forgets the setting it was last on, resulting in a surprise RGB rave in your footwells. I'm actively looking for a better solution and I'll be sure to post what I come up with so stay tuned!

How do you install the gps and microphone on this. In your installation vid you skipped those parts. Im interested in buying this but before pulling the plug i need to know this. Also need to know about heated seats

The gps I routed around the glovebox to the passenger side of the dash. The puck needs a view of the sky. Alternatively, if you have factory gps, there's an adapter u can use that will leverage the OEM GPS antenna. Microphone I routed to the side of the unit, right above the leather trim piece. Some customers have reported NOT needing the microphone attachment too. I believe if you don't connect their mic, the system will use your OE mic. Heated seats work without a hitch. Tested em myself.

Good question - I just grabbed an iPhone and I'm launching a video this weekend with a full Carplay setup and demo on the MK5. But simple answer, yes there's full Apple Carplay support, wired and wirelessly and it works well.

How is the screen brightness during the day time? I had one for my G35 from Phoenix Automotive and the screen brightness was super dim even on the highest setting and completely unusable during the day time.

question, just got an android phone. used zlink for my previous iphone to use carplay and would work pretty good. but given its android based, i expected it to work seemlessly as I switches the zlink settings to android auto... doesnt connect though. not even to the stock intouch q50 Bluetooth, am i doing something wrong?

Are the back up lines the same as the stock back up camera ? I noticed in video it only had the yellow line but not the red and orange ones

Pretty sure there's a setting to choose the OEM or aftermarket backup lines. Can't recall if it comes that way, or the Sergey firmware added it.

Love the video! I've been contemplating on getting this type of screen on my Q. I do have 1 question though, does it work only with the OEM back up camera or can it work with an aftermarket one as well? My biggest peeve on my Q is the quality of the camera (I have a 2014 model, only have the rear camera and no 360 view) and would love to see if getting the Mark V and maybe getting a better quality camera would improve it. (Any recommendation as far as what back up camera to pair this with?)

Good question, I hear you on the camera quality lol. This screen is high definition, so it'll actually make your stock camera look worse, because it's stretching the low resolution image out wider. hey, couple questions for you. Are you able to use wired carplay with the factory usb’s in the center console? If so what app in the unit would you need to use in order to enable it?. Second question, what app within the unit would allow you to use wired carplay?

1) I've heard mixed results from those who have tried using the factory USB plugs. The unit definitely includes its own USB ports and I know for a fact CarPlay works with those. 2) The unit comes with Zlink preinstalled. That's the app for wired or wireless Carplay. Thanks, and congrats on the new Q!! I know for a fact there's a new version coming (I've recently gotten sneak peeks of the new interfaces), the question of the year is WHEN!! It was supposed to be released for customers by now, but COVID, supply chain, etc etc issues have things delayed and up in the air. Stay tuned, when the prototype is ready for testing, I'll be covering it here. Enjoy that Q!!

Now u got me thinking lol 🤔🤔🤔🤔 Re: dashcam - I've got this one amzn.to/3fC5hed I love it because it runs 24/7 and detects movement and shock, and doesn't drain my car battery. Video quality during the daytime is good, I actually use it in some of my videos. Quality in low light is "just ok"

I saw a video of the Manufacturer AuCar and they explained that the reason it is called the Mark 5 is because they skipped the Mark 4. In other words, they also manufacture Phoenix Automotive Mark III. Just created a different company for the new version.

Did you have to uninstall the piggypacked motherboard from the screen (Have a Joyeauto and had to take the screen apart. How is the call quality? Had call issues using the carplay kit and was running it through BT q50 audio. How has this one compared??

No piggyback/motherboard like the joyeauto (check out my installation video). Haven't had any complaints about by calls - my wife would def let me know 😅

So I’m interested in getting one and I had a question about the features. Does all the features such as backup camera & Apple CarPlay come built into the screen ? Also does the screen come with KZfaq , Google and things like that ?

Yes it’s a fully functional android tablet, so whatever apps you download work natively. Same with all cars features like backup, 360 cameras, sonar, etc. Wired and wireless CarPlay and android auto. 🤙🏽

Would I be able to watch HBO Max and KZfaq on these? I understand that its a full tablet with android as an OS. So I know the apps can be downloaded, but how do you get sound from the unit to play through the car speakers?

Yes HBO max and KZfaq work like any other app. I use KZfaq, Netflix, and KZfaqTV pretty often. All the sound goes through the aux channel of your car. Part of the installation is a T-harness that hijacks the signal.

Couple questions: if I have a luxe w/360 camera is that supported? Looks like the drop down only specified red sport w/360. Is the CarPlay organic to that unit, or did your car previously need CarPlay for this unit to piggy back on?

Lux w 360, you'll want the American LHD. All supported including 360 cameras and sonar. Carplay comes with the unit and works both wired and wirelessly. 👍🏾

Yeah the little airbag light stays on on mine too - I think that's normal. When you say the back up sensors don't work, what do you mean exactly? I only uploaded 3 days ago but it has been consistently stable for the ~1.5 weeks I've owned it - that's all I can go by! I've seen many reports of those MK3 issues too, and generally the issues dont "pop up" over time, they're messed up right outta the box

Yeah bro there's a little sun icon at the top. When u click it, it lets you set the brightness for day and night mode, and change the time of day it uses to switch 👍🏾👍🏾

10 times outta 10 it's either wiring, or your car's audio source isn't set to AUX. The MK5 can only play sound thru AUX

I installed one of these in my 2014 q50 after using a piggyback unit for a while. The unit I purchased is missing zlink and I reinstalled it but it will not activate so no carplay. I've been using it with my iphone hotspot activated but honestly after using this thing for the past few days I'm going back to the old unit. wifi using a hotspot is painfully slow it was much easier using carplay on the top screen and audio on the bottom. I don't spemd enough time sitting in my car watching video's to make this thing useful.

So at the top of the screen, there's a little moon icon. Touching it blacks out the screen so u can drive in stealth mode. It comes back in next time u touch the screen or a button.

I recently just got mine installed but for some reason the numbers for the temperature doesnt go any lower that 89 degrees, any suggestions on how to get that fixed? & the sounds doesn't work on any app like Spotify or KZfaq, it only works with the original music player

If your temp starts or sticks at 89, try hitting hit temp UP a couple times instead of down, and it should look around to 60. I've never heard anyone report that audio issue 🤔 reach out to Aucar support - they are very responsive and get u sorted out one way or another!

Hey Rob, I finally got my unit in and installed, got Sergey firmware, but haven't installed it yet. So I have this wierd problem and wondered if it happened to you with this product? When installing the unit I went ahead and hooked up the rca so that way if I wanted upgrade the door speakers I wouldn't have to take the dash out again to hook it up. I did however installed a subwoofer and couldn't find a remote wire on the mark 5 so I decided to tap the remote wire the same way you did it on you subwoofer upgrade video, which worked. But the problem is when I turn my volume up or down the subwoofer stay a it's constant volume. Even when I turn the volume down to 0 the subwoofer is still hitting. Did you have the same problem?

Nah but I didn't use the subwoofer out from the MK5. I just tapped the Bose subwoofer signal like in my other video. If you use the MK5s subwoofer out, you might need to use the equalizer in settings to control the sub's output??

More responsive than factory screen: YES, infinitely - especially in CarPlay mode Using as only CarPlay: debatably worth it. Its definitely worth it when used as a full android tablet. Maybe worth it if you factor in (and like) the change it has on the interior.

Hey after watching your video and installation which was very helpful. I ordered it and installed it no issues. I just need to figure how to place the speaker, mic and GPS puck outside as I just stuffed them behind the vents lol. Also when I use my back up camera i cannot see the lines, any idea how I can get those, it seems to be on in the intouch car settings. Thanks again.

Speaker and mic are optional. I left those off and the system defaults to using the factory speakers and mics. The puck needs to have a view of the sky - I ran the wires out to the passenger side dashboard and secured it with some double sided tape... wish I could find a stealthier spot but I ran out of daylight! 😅😅 I think the reverse guidelines settings are in the MK5 user settings menu. Enjoy!

Haven't heard it described as an issue 😅 I'm pretty sure there's an airbag light on the OEM screens too, I just can't remember. The light shows up to indicate the passenger airbag is disabled. When there's a butt in the passenger seat, it turns off 👍🏾 Yes Bluetooth audio from iPhone is supported

Does the unit take long to start up when you start the car or is there a lag?

It's got fastboot, so if you've run it less than 24 hours ago then it's available pretty much instantly when you start up (seconds). If its been over 24 hrs it does a full reboot and that takes more like 30 seconds

What about the steering wheel controls do they work aside from just volume. I saw that you didn't have to run connectors but I wanted to check on this unit and haven't had the chance to compare

So voice control maps to their weird nexar voice app. I've uninstalled it and not sure how to remap to something else. The phone button doesn't do anything (I can't recall what it did before I installed this). Everything else (next/prev track, etc) work normally

@@SquareWheelsAuto definitely a huge improvement there. I keep my phone bt going to the car and can use the SWC to still answer calls. Do you know if that would work? Otherwise, it just launched the voice controller. You might be able to map it now to OK Google vs nexar?

There's confirmed support up to 2021 models. If nothing's changed on the 2022 infotainment/wiring, the same units should work. They'd need to see the back if your top screen to be sure.

How quickly does the screen boot up when starting the car? Can you show our talk about how to put in split screen? Can you change the color of the physical buttons? How good is the GPS signal? Thank you

It's fast boot, so if you've started the car in the last 24 hrs, its pretty quick... seconds. Longer than that, it does a full reboot and takes ~20 seconds to be usable. Apps that can be split screened have indicators in the bottom left corner that allow you to toggle split screen mode, and switch position (top/bottom) There's an app called colors that allows you to change the backlight on the physical buttons including the HVAC controls on the side. GPS signal is great, no issues. If u use the included puck, be sure to position it with a view of the sky. If ur Q has factory nav, you can use your factory gps antenna if u buy an adapter.

Hmm. my voice command button works, it opens that voice helper app thing. I dont think I ever tried the phone button. Check with support, they'll get u sorted out!

Sir, I messed up my q50 screen by deleting some of the apps or software! So I’m thinking to buy this unit instead of fix the one comes with my q since this one is a lot better! It really depends on how bad you messed up the Q50 screen. This unit is an android tablet and thus has tons of functionality that will probably/definitely work well independently - but any functions that require communication with the vehicle (example, climate control, intouch menus, etc etc) are at risk - if they're screwed up, there's nothing the screen can do to help. If it was me, I'd get one and give it a shot! I've heard having the dealer replace screens (or even just reloading apps) is super expensive.

Nope sounds good to me. It just sends audio through the Bose amp like any other input, and there's a 16 band equalizer for fine tuning.

Its good in most conditions. When I have direct light coming Ithru the sunroof it's tough to see. It's basically the same core hardware as the MK3
