I know for me I feel very content most of the time but sometimes I tend to think about things a little deeper and it hurts not having any hope of a better human condition. It is important we have people who spend their day to day building a future so that we regular working people can support and believe in that cause.

It's my first comment on KZfaq ever. It is so satisfying to hear one of richest humans on the planet to show aspirations that I (and I presume most of us) once held dear but had to set aside in favor of earning a living (again like most of us) and thus become an average person. It is gratifying to know that there are people who have the resources to not worry about earning a living and who are dedicated to exploring our existence, the universe and the meaning of life, rather than succumbing to the defeatist mindset of retreating into the "internal world" and similar distractions. I really wish that Musk and other humans like him carry on our quest for meaning and do not waste their time in distractions (of the sort we often see them wasting time in).

@@blanky9037 pretty sure most people consider Minecraft to be a good survival game. after a certain point you no longer have to worry about things like shelter or food or armor because you're set, you're "rich". eventually you figure out how to automate mundane tasks or make them more efficient. there's always room to grow, far past the original challenges and limitations. as old problems go away, new problems come about, and the old problems you solved became the foundational platform for you to solve your new problems. People who play the game a lot and maximize their efficiency and discover new and gamechanging discoveries for other players to implement into their own worlds. Minecraft isnt all about building a shelter and scavenging for food to survive the night, its about everything that happens and the efforts you take on your journey through the game. Sure there are set goals and objectives that mark your progression, but even still the point of Minecraft isnt to kill the ender dragon. these are the similarities that are being drawn upon when saying life is more like a game when you're rich. your objectives are no longer to survive the night, if you have enough drive you push to the forefront of discovery, progressing the overall experience of others. But also it eludes to the nature of life itself and the purpose you set for yourself. the point of life isnt to figure out the point of life, its to understand and make life better.

Elon Musk's X, formerly known as Twitter, is now worth just $12.5 billion. We may earn a commission from links on this page. Elon Musk purchased X, formerly known as Twitter, in October 2022 for $44 billion. 11/1/2024 Musk states that he can create an atmosphere on Mars. Mars does not have a Magnetic field to protect its atmosphere, so what is this talk about creating an atmosphere. Note: The Magnetosphere Protects Earth's Atmosphere The magnetosphere deflects much of the solar particles and energy that stream towards Earth at all times. Without the magnetosphere, Earth's layered atmosphere would deteriorate due to the constant bombardment of solar wind. Musk stated that cows do not cause environmental harm. The average daily CO2 emission for dairy cows producing 63 pounds of milk per day was 6,137 liters. The range was 5,042 to 7,427 liters per day over a six-month monitoring period. A recent paper reported the CO2 emissions using data summarized from the USDA Energy Metabolism Unit. One serving of Beef (100g) is equivalent to 15.5kg CO2e, or 78.7km of driving. One serving of Beef (100g) is equivalent to 15.5kg CO2e. One serving of Lamb (100g). Livestock production-primarily cows-produce 14.5 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. The majority of that is in the form of methane, a potent greenhouse gas that is a natural byproduct of how some livestock process food. But as Christopher Booker reports, scientists are hoping that small tweaks in what cows eat can dramatically reduce a big source of climate emissions. The solar wind sweeps through the solar system far beyond the orbit of Pluto, forming a large "bubble" called the heliosphere. According to NASA, the heliosphere is shaped like a long wind sock as it moves with the sun.

@@whatupwhatup4206 My conclusion to that has been something I call "hopeful nihilism". You accept that there is most probably no "higher reason", at least as far as we know. At the same time, you recognize science as the only tool that even has the possibility of letting us find out about the nature of the universe. Whatever it looks like, whether it's a secret code embedded in the "formula of everything" (the holy grail of physics) by our creators or that latter formula is just a formula and we realise it really is pointless, it is worth finding out. And the most direct way you as an individual can contribute to this goal is becoming a scientist and doing the best work you can. Or, you choose to contribute indirectly by becoming a science teacher (or similar), motivating a new generation to become scientists, or make a whole lot of money and use that to fund science (like Mr. Musk). The point is, there's not much you can do and much less a guarantee of success, on the contrary, that effort is probably "pointless". But in my opinion it is the most meaningful (or least pointless) thing you can do with your life. Once arrived at that conclusion, beware of depression, especially as a teenager!Don't underestimate human psychology. Here I would recommend reading Camus and adopting a watered-down version of Absurdism. You will hopefully accept the apparent pointlessness but, most importantly, reject (to some degree at least) the need to even have "a point". Being in open protest to this idea and instead simply trying to be happy through a hedonistic lifestyle can really save you from the rabbit hole. Of course, this is a bit contradictory to what I said before. In short, I found the optimal life philosophy to be: "I don't really need a higher 'meaning of life' and will instead just try to be happy, appreciating the little things. But, since I'm already here and a meaning life would be quite nice to find, I'll commit my career to science. Hopefully, we get somewhere during my lifetime, and if not, well I tried." I said this latter part because I did struggle with the conclusion and ended up playing computer games all day, trying to escape that reality. Don't be afraid to spend some time actively trying to fix your mental state. Especially as a teenager before college, don't hesitate to take a gap year, get out of your usual routine and learn to be happy in life despite not having a clear purpose. Thank you for listeing to my TED-Talk hahahah

The short answer is "purpose." People often think that once they acquire a nest egg equivalent to 25× their anticipated annual retirement expenditure (probably a bit more if retiring prior to age 60), that they can just spend the rest of their lives laying in a hammock. You probably can't actually do that for 30+ years without growing restless. People need purpose in their lives, and when you're a billionaire, you possess the means to pursue and have a significant impact on whatever matters offer you that sense of purpose, which is naturally quite rewarding.

True most think retirement is just laying in bed doing nothing. It's not. Retirement means freedom to choose. I retired at 43, but I still work part time doing what I enjoy because it's what I chose....not what I'm forced to do. This is something most dont understand. If you invest well (and cut your costs...no cars, boats or fat mortgages) you can retire then choose what you WANT to do.

This was so well stated from Elon. Gives you the reason why he's so special to our society for thinking far outside of the box within logical reason, explanation, and ongoing proof with goals he reaches. He doesn't know all the answers of the universe but he strives to figure it out instead of just complying with a system put in place saying this is what it is, just go with it.

I think you're off the mark here. Google doesn't solve existential questions, it catches new people up on thought paths already examined. It helps bring anyone curious to the frontier of thinking they may never have even arrived at themselves. Then they can walk away and stew on, and contemplate further because the final answer to these questions will never be found.

I always say that my favorite book to read was The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I remember when I first read the line about the Vogon ships hanging in the air just as bricks don't. I was thinking to myself: "This is my kind of book". Not only because it was funny, but because I had to think about what made it funny. Glad to see Elon sharing this view on the novel and what it represents.

His companies certainly bring high value and he is a smart person. The problem is his behavior as a rich man. Instead of being humble like in this video, he is spending lots of time sharing things on Twitter that are not true and starting stupid controversies. Plus, he's a personal friend of Trump's family and he is spreading lies about Biden (he might be old and getting senile a little bit, but he is not a pedophile). His actions don't seem to show that he has good intentions about the future of our planet.

from what i read he is an ahole to work with. he made the boring company with our tax money, but will only allow those who buy tesla cars to use it. he did not like the idea of trains coming back to California and being made publically available for everyone, so he lied about making a hyperloop and got the public to support it. he also admitted this. from his twitter he is somewhat of a man-child. from accusing people of crime they didn't commit to buying twitter because he thinks it's funny. he is against union (this is very bad in my book). I heard he is a terrible father (I have no proof of this).

Interesting that he nodded to how it's not exactly healthy for a young and eager mind to read on heavy philosophy. Even as a middle-aged man, i fear knowing or thinking too much. There are thoughts that can total melt any understanding you thought you had on life, whether they are right or not.. so, knowledge is dangerous, whether true or false. How we process and use that info can be harmless or can destroy us.
